Journal ArticleDOI
Membrane-type-1 matrix metalloproteinase transcription and translation in myocardial fibroblasts from patients with normal left ventricular function and from patients with cardiomyopathy.
Laura Spruill,Abigail S. Lowry,Robert E. Stroud,Christina E. Squires,Ira M. Mains,English C. Flack,Christy Beck,John S. Ikonomidis,A. Jackson Crumbley,Paul J. McDermott,Francis G. Spinale +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that elevated steady-state MT1-MMP mRNA and protein levels occurred in DCM FIBROS despite a decline in translational deficiency, which may provide the basis for developing cell specific pharmacological targets for control of MT1,MMP expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Common pathways and communication between the Brain and Heart: Connecting post-traumatic stress disorder and heart failure
Marlene A. Wilson,Israel Liberzon,Merry L. Lindsey,Yana Lokshina,Victoria B. Risbrough,Renu Sah,Susan K. Wood,John B. Williamson,Francis G. Spinale +8 more
TL;DR: Specific endocrine, autonomic, immune, structural, genetic, and physiological changes that may contribute to shared PTSD-CVD pathophysiology and could represent unique opportunities to develop therapies for both PTSD and HF are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic and differential changes in myocardial and plasma endothelin in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass
Marlina M. Multani,John S. Ikonomidis,Peter Y. Kim,Elizabeth A. Miller,Kim J. Payne,Rupak Mukherjee,B.Hugh Dorman,Francis G. Spinale +7 more
TL;DR: Significant compartmentalization of endothelin exists within the human myocardium and a significantly higher and temporally disparate change in myocardial interstitial endothelins occurs during and after cardiopulmonary bypass when compared with systemic levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of an endothelin-1 autocrine loop in cardiac myocytes: Relation to contractile function with congestive heart failure
Journal ArticleDOI
Controlling myocardial matrix remodeling: implications for heart failure.
Vijay U. Rao,Francis G. Spinale +1 more
TL;DR: The development of pharmacologic agents that will modulate the activity and expression of myocardial matrix metalloproteinases represents a new and potentially significant therapeutic target for developing CHF.
