Journal ArticleDOI

First detection of [N II] 205 μm absorption in interstellar gas - Herschel-HIFI observations towards W 31C, W 49N, W 51, and G34.3+0.1

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented high resolution [N II] 205 μm spectra obtained with Herschel-HIFI towards a small sample of far-infrared bright star forming regions in the Galactic plane: all sources display an emission line profile associated directly with the H II regions themselves.
Journal ArticleDOI

Statistical description of dust polarized emission from the diffuse interstellar medium -- A RWST approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the wavelet scattering transform (WST) is applied to noise-free maps of dust polarized thermal emission computed from a numerical simulation of MHD turbulence, and normalized complex Stokes maps and maps of the polarization fraction and polarization angle are analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Planck intermediate results. XLII. Large-scale Galactic magnetic fields

R. Adam, +227 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use three different but representative models to compare their predicted polarized synchrotron and dust emission with that measured by the Planck satellite, and find that the dust predictions do not match the morphology in the planck data but underpredict the dust polarization away from the plane.
