Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of pathogenic SCN9A mutations in the zebrafish: A model to study small-fiber neuropathy.
Ivo Eijkenboom,Maurice Sopacua,Auke B C Otten,Monique M. Gerrits,Janneke G. J. Hoeijmakers,Stephen G. Waxman,Raffaella Lombardi,Giuseppe Lauria,Ingemar S. J. Merkies,Hubert J.M. Smeets,Catharina G. Faber,Jo Vanoevelen +11 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that transient overexpression of mutant human mRNA provides a model for SFN in zebrafish, and this disease model may provide a basis for testing the pathogenicity of novel genetic variants identified in SFN patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In PATH, subjects randomized to placebo who did not relapse were significantly older, had more severe disease, and took longer to deteriorate in the IgG dependency period compared with those who relapsed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cerebellar ataxia, neuropathy, and vestibular areflexia syndrome: a slowly progressive disorder with stereotypical presentation
TL;DR: Nerve conduction studies revealed axonal sensory neuropathy, brain magnetic resonance imaging showed cerebellar atrophy, and otoneurological investigation demonstrated bilateral vestibular areflexia with impaired vestibulo-ocular reflexes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adult leukoencephalopathies with prominent infratentorial involvement can be caused by Erdheim–Chester disease
Luisa Chiapparini,Giulio Cavalli,Tiziana Langella,Anna Venerando,Giacomo De Luca,Sergio Raspante,Giorgio Marotta,Bianca Pollo,Giuseppe Lauria,Giuseppe Lauria,Maria Giulia Cangi,Simonetta Gerevini,Andrea Botturi,Davide Pareyson,Lorenzo Dagna,Ettore Salsano +15 more
TL;DR: Symptoms of PIL can be the only clinical manifestation of Erdheim–Chester disease, and adult patients with PIL of unknown origin should undergo investigations aimed at unveiling ECD, including bone scintigraphy and whole-body FDG-PET.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitivity and specificity of a commercial ELISA test for anti-MAG antibodies in patients with neuropathy
Giuseppe Liberatore,Claudia Giannotta,Blesson Punnen Sajeev,Emanuela Morenghi,F. Terenghi,Francesca Gallia,Pietro Emiliano Doneddu,Fiore Manganelli,Dario Cocito,Massimiliano Filosto,Giovanni Antonini,Giuseppe Cosentino,Girolama Alessandra Marfia,Angelo Maurizio Clerici,Giuseppe Lauria,Tiziana Rosso,Guido Cavaletti,Eduardo Nobile-Orazio +17 more
TL;DR: There was a diagnostic grey area between 1500 and 7000 BTU in which the clinical phenotypes as well as electrophysiological studies need to be carefully assessed particularly to differentiate CIDP and anti-MAG neuropathy.
