Spring enhancement and summer reduction in carbon uptake during the 2018 drought in northwestern Europe
Naomi E. Smith,Linda M. J. Kooijmans,Gerbrand Koren,Erik van Schaik,Auke M. van der Woude,Auke M. van der Woude,Niko Wanders,Michel Ramonet,Irène Xueref-Remy,Lukas Siebicke,Giovanni Manca,Christian Brümmer,Ian Baker,Katherine D. Haynes,Ingrid T. Luijkx,Wouter Peters,Wouter Peters +16 more
TL;DR: It is found that, in contrast to the preceding 5 years, low soil moisture is the main stress factor across the affected area and reduced GPP, TER, NEE and soil moisture at ICOS ecosystem sites are reproduced satisfactorily by the SiB4 model.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Assessment of Pseudo-Operational Ground-Based Light Detection and Ranging Sensors to Determine the Boundary-Layer Structure in the Coastal Atmosphere
Conor Milroy,Giovanni Martucci,Simone Lolli,S. Loaec,L. Sauvage,Irène Xueref-Remy,Jost V. Lavric,Philippe Ciais,Dietrich G. Feist,Gionata Biavati,Colin D. O'Dowd +10 more
TL;DR: Milroy et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the boundary-layer structure of the GAW Atmospheric Station of Mace Head, Ireland from 8th to 28th of June, 2009 using three co-located remote sensors, one LIDAR and two ceilometers at the coastal site of Mace head, Ireland.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of Convective Transport and Parameter Sensitivity in a Single Column Version of the Goddard Earth Observation System, Version 5, General Circulation Model
Lesley Ott,Julio T. Bacmeister,Steven Pawson,Kenneth E. Pickering,Georgiy L. Stenchikov,Max J. Suarez,Heidi Huntrieser,Max Loewenstein,J. Lopez,Irène Xueref-Remy +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare vertical profiles of convective mass flux and trace gas mixing ratios derived from cloud-resolving models and single column model (SCM) simulations of storms observed during three field campaigns.
Journal ArticleDOI
The fingerprint of the summer 2018 drought in Europe on ground-based atmospheric CO2 measurements.
Michel Ramonet,P. Ciais,F. Apadula,J. Bartyzel,Ana Bastos,P. Bergamaschi,Pierre-Eric Blanc,D. Brunner,L. Caracciolo di Torchiarolo,F. Calzolari,H. Chen,L. Chmura,A. Colomb,Sébastien Conil,P. Yver Kwok +83 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the usual summer minimum in CO2 due to the surface carbon uptake was reduced by 1.4 ppm in 2018 for the 10 stations located in the area most affected by the temperature anomaly, mostly in Northern Europe, suggesting an extension of the growing season.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exploiting stagnant conditions to derive robust emission ratio estimates for CO 2 , CO and volatile organic compounds in Paris
L. Ammoura,Irène Xueref-Remy,Felix Vogel,Valérie Gros,Alexia Baudic,Bernard Bonsang,Marc Delmotte,Yao Te,Frédéric Chevallier +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an approach to estimate urban emission ratios that takes advantage of the enhanced local urban signal in the atmosphere at low wind speed was proposed, and applied to estimate monthly ratios between CO2, CO and some VOCs from several atmospheric concentration measurement datasets acquired in the centre of Paris between 2010 and 2014.
