TL;DR: Time resolved experiments on PSII nano/microcrystals from Thermosynechococcus elongatus performed with the recently developed technique of serial femtosecond crystallography provide evidence that PSII undergoes significant conformational changes at the electron acceptor side and at the Mn4CaO5 core of the OEC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of substrate diffusion and ligand binding in enzyme crystals using high-repetition-rate mix-and-inject serial crystallography

Chapman,Petra Fromme,Adrian P. Mancuso,Adrian P. Mancuso,George N. Phillips,Richard Bean,Lois Pollack,Marius Schmidt +42 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the initial phase of the enzymatic cycle is observed with near-atomic resolution using the most advanced X-ray source currently available: the European XFEL (EuXFEL).

TL;DR: In this article , an immiscible inert oil phase is used to supplement the flow of sample in a hybrid microfluidic 3D-printed co-flow device, resulting in stable injection conditions for two different resin materials experimentally.
Journal ArticleDOI
Membrane directed expression in Escherichia coli of BBA57 and other virulence factors from the Lyme disease agent Borrelia burgdorferi
Karie E. Robertson,Chloe D. Truong,Felicia M. Craciunescu,Jay-How Yang,Po-Lin Chiu,Petra Fromme,Debra T. Hansen +6 more
TL;DR: In describing the first purification of membrane-translocated BBA57, this work will support subsequent studies that reveal the precise mechanisms of this important Lyme disease virulence factor, and provide evidence for an α-helical multimer.
