Suggett,Michael Sweet,John Statton,Sam Teicher,Stacey M. Trevathan-Tackett,Thadickal V. Joydas,Razan Z. Yahya,Manuel Aranda +37 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors make a case for investing in blue natural capital and propose a strategic development model that relies on maintaining the health of natural ecosystems to safeguard the Red Sea’s sustainable development.

Effect of carbonate chemistry manipulations on calcification, respiration, and excretion of a Mediterranean pteropod
Steeve Comeau,Steeve Comeau,Steeve Comeau,Jean-Pierre Gattuso,Jean-Pierre Gattuso,Ross A. Jeffree,Ross A. Jeffree,Frédéric Gazeau,Frédéric Gazeau +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of ocean acidification on pteropod calcification was investigated with seven different conditions of the carbonate chemistry, obtained by manipulating pH and total alkalinity, with the goal to disentangle the effects of the pH and the saturation state with respect to aragonite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnitude and Predictability of pH Fluctuations Shape Plastic Responses to Ocean Acidification.
TL;DR: This work validates recent theoretical findings on evolution in fluctuating environments, suggesting that the predictability of fluctuating selection pressures may play a predominant role in shaping the phenotypic variation observed across natural populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Balancing the Oceanic Calcium Carbonate Cycle: Consequences of Variable Water Column Ψ
TL;DR: This paper showed that the atmospheric CO2 balance can be maintained constant with respect to seawater CaCO3 reactions if one considers the difference between CaCO 3 precipitation and burial and differing values for ψ (both <1.0) in regions of precipitation and dissolution within the ocean.
