Circadian rhythm reprogramming during lung inflammation
Jeffrey A. Haspel,Sukrutha Chettimada,Rahamthulla S. Shaik,Jen-Hwa Chu,Benjamin A. Raby,Manuela Cernadas,Vincent J. Carey,Vanessa Process,G Matthew Hunninghake,Emeka Ifedigbo,James A. Lederer,Joshua A. Englert,Ashley Pelton,Anna Coronata,Laura E. Fredenburgh,Augustine M.K. Choi +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that inflammation produces a complex reorganization of cellular and molecular circadian rhythms that are relevant to early events in lung injury, including a divergent group of rhythmic genes and metabolites compared to the basal state and a distinct periodicity and phase distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping of numerous disease-associated expression polymorphisms in primary peripheral blood CD4+ lymphocytes
Amy Murphy,Jen-Hwa Chu,Mousheng Xu,Vincent J. Carey,Ross Lazarus,Andrew H. Liu,Stanley J. Szefler,Robert C. Strunk,Karen DeMuth,Mario Castro,Nadia N. Hansel,Gregory B. Diette,Becky M. Vonakis,N. Franklin Adkinson,Barbara J. Klanderman,Jody Senter-Sylvia,John Ziniti,Christoph Lange,Christoph Lange,Tomi Pastinen,Benjamin A. Raby +20 more
TL;DR: Genome-wide association studies of human gene expression promise to identify functional regulatory genetic variation that contributes to phenotypic diversity, but it is unclear how useful this approach will be for the identification of disease-susceptibility variants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of the prognostic value of MMP-7 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Argyris Tzouvelekis,Jose D. Herazo-Maya,Martin D. Slade,Jen-Hwa Chu,Giuseppe DeIuliis,Changwan Ryu,Qin Li,Koji Sakamoto,Gabriel Ibarra,Hongyi Pan,Mridu Gulati,Danielle Antin-Ozerkis,Erica L. Herzog,Naftali Kaminski +13 more
TL;DR: This work aimed to determine whether a previously reported prognostic threshold for MMP‐7 was predictive of mortality in an independent cohort of IPF patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Noninvasive Analysis of the Sputum Transcriptome Discriminates Clinical Phenotypes of Asthma
Xiting Yan,Jen-Hwa Chu,Jose L. Gomez,Maria Koenigs,Carole Holm,Xiaoxuan He,Mario F. Perez,Hongyu Zhao,Shrikant Mane,Fernando D. Martinez,Carole Ober,Dan L. Nicolae,Kathleen C. Barnes,Stephanie J. London,Frank D. Gilliland,Scott T. Weiss,Benjamin A. Raby,Lauren Cohn,Geoffrey L. Chupp +18 more
TL;DR: There are common patterns of gene expression in the sputum and blood of children and adults that are associated with near-fatal, severe, and milder asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome Wide Association Study to predict severe asthma exacerbations in children using random forests classifiers
Mousheng Xu,Mousheng Xu,Kelan G. Tantisira,Ann Wu,Augusto A. Litonjua,Jen-Hwa Chu,Blanca E. Himes,Amy Damask,Scott T. Weiss +8 more
TL;DR: This study shows that a random forests algorithm can effectively extract and use the information contained in a small number of samples when used with GWAS studies to integrate large numbers of predictors simultaneously.
