Journal ArticleDOI
Biological features of novel avian influenza A (H7N9) virus
Jiangfang Zhou,Dayan Wang,Rongbao Gao,Baihui Zhao,Jingdong Song,Xian Qi,Yanjun Zhang,Yonglin Shi,Lei Yang,Wenfei Zhu,Tian Bai,Kun Qin,Yu Lan,Shumei Zou,Junfeng Guo,Jie Dong,Libo Dong,Ye Zhang,Hejiang Wei,Xiaodan Li,Jian Lu,Liqi Liu,Xiang Zhao,Xiyan Li,Weijuan Huang,Le-ying Wen,Hong Bo,Li Xin,Y. Chen,Cuilin Xu,Yuquan Pei,Yue Yang,Xiaodong Zhang,Shiwen Wang,Zijian Feng,Jun Han,Weizhong Yang,George F. Gao,Guizhen Wu,Dexin Li,Yu Wang,Yuelong Shu +41 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the emerging H7N9 avian influenza virus poses a potentially high risk to humans, and current seasonal vaccination could not provide protection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic tuning of the novel avian influenza A(H7N9) virus during interspecies transmission, China, 2013.
Dayan Wang,Limei Yang,Rongbao Gao,Xiaodong Zhang,Y Tan,Aiping Wu,Wenfei Zhu,Jianfang Zhou,Shumei Zou,Xiyan Li,Y Sun,Ye Zhang,Y Liu,T Liu,Ying Xiong,J Xu,L Chen,Y Weng,X Qi,Junfeng Guo,Xiaodan Li,Jinming Dong,Weijuan Huang,Lixin Dong,Xiang Zhao,Liqi Liu,Jian Lu,Yu Lan,Hua Wei,Li Xin,Y. Chen,Cuiling Xu,Tao Chen,Yun Zhu,Tao Jiang,Zijian Feng,Weizhong Yang,Yu Wang,Hongbo Zhu,Yi Guan,George F. Gao,Dexin Li,Jun Han,Shiwen Wang,Guizhen Wu,Yuelong Shu +45 more
TL;DR: A genetic tuning procedure with continuous amino acid substitutions and reassorting that mediates host adaptation and interspecies transmission is proposed and may create opportunities for further adaptation of influenza A(H7N9) and its potential to cause a pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rare variant MX1 alleles increase human susceptibility to zoonotic H7N9 influenza virus.
Y. Chen,Laura Graf,Tao Chen,Qijun Liao,Tian Bai,Philipp P. Petric,Wenfei Zhu,Lei Yang,Jie Dong,Jian Lu,Ying Chen,Juan Shen,Otto Haller,Otto Haller,Peter Staeheli,Georg Kochs,Dayan Wang,Martin Schwemmle,Yuelong Shu,Yuelong Shu +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used whole-genome sequencing to compare avian IAV H7N9 patients with healthy controls and observed a strong association between IAV infection and rare, heterozygous single-nucleotide variants in the MX1 gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
A sandwich ELISA for the detection of neuraminidase of avian influenza A(H7N9) virus.
Yueyang Yu,Xi Zhang,Baihui Zhao,Ying Sun,Xiaoguang Zhang,Tian Bai,Jian Lu,Zi Li,Liqi Liu,Dayan Wang,Yuelong Shu,Jianfang Zhou,Kun Qin +12 more
TL;DR: The ELISA using anti-N9 mAbs provided a valuable approach to detect H7N9 virus and quantify the N9 protein.
