HST PanCET Program: A Complete Near-UV to Infrared Transmission Spectrum for the Hot Jupiter WASP-79b
Alexander D. Rathcke,Ryan J. MacDonald,Joanna K. Barstow,Jayesh M. Goyal,Mercedes Lopez-Morales,João M. Mendonça,Jorge Sanz-Forcada,Gregory W. Henry,David K. Sing,Munazza K. Alam,Nikole K. Lewis,Katy L. Chubb,Jake Taylor,Nikolay Nikolov,Lars A. Buchhave +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a new optical transmission spectrum of the hot Jupiter WASP-79b and inferred atmospheric and stellar properties from the full near-UV to infrared transmission spectrum using three independent retrieval codes, all of which yield consistent results.

A Detection of Water in the Transmission Spectrum of the Hot Jupiter WASP-12b and Implications for its Atmospheric Composition
Laura Kreidberg,Michael R. Line,Jacob L. Bean,Kevin B. Stevenson,Jean-Michel Desert,Nikku Madhusudhan,Jonathan J. Fortney,Joanna K. Barstow,Gregory W. Henry,Michael H. Williamson,Adam P. Showman +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a near-infrared transmission spectrum for WASP-12b based on six transit observations with the Hubble Space Telescope/Wide Field Camera 3 was used to retrieve the atmospheric properties using the transmission spectrum and find strong evidence for water absorption.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Framework for Prioritizing the TESS Planetary Candidates Most Amenable to Atmospheric Characterization
Eliza M.-R. Kempton,Eliza M.-R. Kempton,Jacob L. Bean,Dana R. Louie,Drake Deming,Daniel D. B. Koll,Megan Mansfield,Jessie L. Christiansen,Mercedes Lopez-Morales,Mark R. Swain,Robert T. Zellem,Sarah Ballard,Thomas Barclay,Thomas Barclay,Joanna K. Barstow,Natasha E. Batalha,Thomas G. Beatty,Zach Berta-Thompson,Jayne Birkby,Lars A. Buchhave,David Charbonneau,Nicolas B. Cowan,Ian J. M. Crossfield,Miguel de Val-Borro,Miguel de Val-Borro,René Doyon,Diana Dragomir,Eric Gaidos,Kevin Heng,Renyu Hu,Stephen R. Kane,Laura Kreidberg,Matthias Mallonn,Caroline V. Morley,Norio Narita,Valerio Nascimbeni,Enric Palle,Enric Palle,Elisa V. Quintana,Emily Rauscher,Sara Seager,Evgenya L. Shkolnik,David K. Sing,Alessandro Sozzetti,Keivan G. Stassun,Jeff A. Valenti,Carolina von Essen +46 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of analytic metrics, quantifying the expected signal-to-noise in transmission and thermal emission spectroscopy for a given planet, that will allow the top atmospheric characterization targets to be readily identified among the TESS planet candidates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamical theory driven west on CoRoT-2b
TL;DR: A peak in the infrared phase curve occurring after eclipse suggests a westward shift in the dayside hotspot of hot giant exoplanet CoRoT-2b, calling into question our understanding of atmospheric dynamics on hot gas giants as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
HST PanCET program: A Cloudy Atmosphere for the promising JWST target WASP-101b
Hannah R. Wakeford,Kevin B. Stevenson,Nikole K. Lewis,David K. Sing,Mercedes López-Morales,Mark S. Marley,Tiffany Kataria,Avi Mandell,Gilda E. Ballester,Joanna K. Barstow,Lotfi Ben-Jaffel,Vincent Bourrier,Lars A. Buchhave,David Ehrenreich,Thomas M. Evans,A. García Muñoz,Gregory W. Henry,Heather A. Knutson,Panayotis Lavvas,A. Lecavelier des Etangs,Nikolay Nikolov,Jorge Sanz-Forcada +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results from the first observations of the HST Panchromatic Comparative Exoplanet Treasury (PanCET) program for WASP-101b, a highly inflated hot Jupiter and one of the community targets proposed for the JWST Early Release Science (ERS) program.
