TL;DR: Both wine and gin showed anti-inflammatory effects by reducing plasma fibrinogen and IL-1alpha levels, however, wine had the additional effect of decreasing hs-CRP, as well as monocyte and endothelial adhesion molecules.

Cardiovascular risks and benefits of moderate and heavy alcohol consumption
TL;DR: The overall balance of beneficial and detrimental effects should be considered when making individual and population-wide recommendations, as reductions in alcohol consumption should provide overall health benefits.
