Journal ArticleDOI
Outcomes and costs of outpatient and inpatient cataract surgery: a randomised clinical trial.
TL;DR: Ambulatory cataract surgery was more cost-effective than inpatient surgery, and despite the higher risk of early complications in the outpatient hospital group, these differences may not be clinically relevant because the 4-month postoperative outcomes were not affected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term exposure to greenspace and metabolic syndrome: A Whitehall II study
Carmen de Keijzer,Xavier Basagaña,Cathryn Tonne,Antònia Valentín,Jordi Alonso,Josep M. Antó,Mark J. Nieuwenhuijsen,Mika Kivimäki,Archana Singh-Manoux,Jordi Sunyer,Payam Dadvand +10 more
TL;DR: The findings of the present study suggest that middle-aged and older adults living in greener neighbourhoods are at lower risk of metabolic syndrome than those living in neighbourhoods with less greenspace.
Journal ArticleDOI
A pooling-based genome-wide analysis identifies new potential candidate genes for atopy in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS)
Francesc Castro-Giner,Mariona Bustamante,Juan R. González,Manolis Kogevinas,Deborah Jarvis,Joachim Heinrich,Josep M. Antó,Matthias Wjst,Xavier Estivill,Rafael de Cid +9 more
TL;DR: New candidate regions related to atopy are identified and SGK493 is suggested as an atopy locus, although these results need further replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Air pollution and mortality in a cohort of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a time series analysis
TL;DR: It is hypothesised that patients with COPD are more likely to die after increased exposure to urban air pollution than the general population.
Journal ArticleDOI
