Journal ArticleDOI
Large-scale international validation of the ADO index in subjects with COPD : an individual subject data analysis of 10 cohorts
Milo A. Puhan,Nadia N. Hansel,Patricia Sobradillo,Paul L. Enright,Peter Lange,DeMarc A. Hickson,DeMarc A. Hickson,Ana Maria Menezes,Gerben ter Riet,Ulrike Held,Antònia Domingo-Salvany,Zab Mosenifar,Josep M. Antó,Karel G M Moons,Alphons G.H. Kessels,Judith Garcia-Aymerich +15 more
TL;DR: The updated 15-point ADO index accurately predicts 3-year mortality across the COPD severity spectrum and can be used to inform patients about their prognosis, clinical trial study design or benefit harm assessment of medical interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asthma characteristics in cleaning workers, workers in other risk jobs and office workers
TL;DR: Asthma in cleaning workers showed many similarities with that in workers known to be at risk for occupational asthma, and atopic sensitisation did not seem to play an important role in cleaning-related asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship of Health Behaviours to Five-year Mortality in an Elderly Cohort
TL;DR: The results add to the evidence that the adverse effects on survival of smoking and of being sedentary extend later into life, and suggest that promoting physical activity may have an important role in enhancing survival in this age group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical Activity and Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness: European Community Respiratory Health Survey II
Rafea Shaaban,Bénédicte Leynaert,D. Soussan,Josep M. Antó,Susan Chinn,Roberto de Marco,Judith Garcia-Aymerich,Joachim Heinrich,Christer Janson,Deborah Jarvis,Jordi Sunyer,Cecilie Svanes,Matthias Wjst,Peter Burney,Françoise Neukirch,Mahmoud Zureik +15 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that BHR is strongly and independently associated with decreased physical activity, and the mechanisms underlying this association are still unclear.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: This article presents the workgroup reports and provides Web links (AsthmaBirthCohorts.eu), where the reader will find tables describing the characteristics of the birth cohorts included in this report, the type of data collected at differing ages, and a selected bibliography provided by the participating birth cohorts.
