Christine Canova,Joachim Heinrich,Josep M. Antó,Bénédicte Leynaert,Matt Smith,Nino Kuenzli,Nino Kuenzli,Jan-Paul Zock,Christer Janson,Isa Cerveri,Robert de Marco,Kjell Torén,Thorarinn Gislason,Dennis Nowak,Isabelle Pin,Matthias Wjst,Jure Manfreda,Cecilie Svanes,Julian Crane,Michael J. Abramson,Michael Leslie Burr,Peter Burney,Deborah Jarvis +22 more
TL;DR: Seasonal variations in asthma attacks in young adults are common and are different depending on sensitisation to outdoor, but not indoor, allergens, with some geographical variation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences in mortality of people who visited emergency rooms for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Jordi Sunyer,Josep M. Antó,Dave McFarlane,Antonia Domingo,Aurelio Tobias,Maria Antònia Barceló,Alvaro Muñoz +6 more
TL;DR: The mortality rates in both males and females who visited emergency rooms for COPD or asthma were significantly higher than the expected rates in the general population, and the increased risk of asthma death in females may be due to problems of coding the term "asthma" in death certificates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do asthma and allergy influence subsequent pet keeping? An analysis of childhood and adulthood.
Cecilie Svanes,Jan-Paul Zock,Josep M. Antó,Shyamali C. Dharmage,Dan Norbäck,Matthias Wjst,Joachim Heinrich,Deborah Jarvis,Roberto de Marco,Estel Plana,Chantal Raherison,Jordi Sunyer +11 more
TL;DR: A part of the protective effects of childhood cats on asthma and allergy can be attributed to selective avoidance, which was observed for childhood cat keeping and adult cat acquisition.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: POLLAR (Impact of air POLLution on sleep, Asthma and Rhinitis) is a project of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health) that will use a freely-existing application for AR monitoring to propose novel care pathways integrating pollution, sleep and patients’ literacy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of IgE Reactivity to a Handful of Allergen Molecules in Early Childhood Predicts Respiratory Allergy in Adolescence.
Magnus Wickman,Magnus Wickman,Christian Lupinek,Niklas Andersson,Danielle Belgrave,Anna Asarnoj,Anna Asarnoj,Marta Benet,Mariona Pinart,Sandra Wieser,Judith Garcia-Aymerich,Alexandra Baar,Göran Pershagen,Angela Simpson,Inger Kull,Inger Kull,Anna Bergström,Erik Melén,Erik Melén,Carl Hamsten,Josep M. Antó,Jean Bousquet,Jean Bousquet,Adnan Custovic,Rudolf Valenta,Marianne van Hage +25 more
TL;DR: IgE reactivity to a few allergen molecules early in life identifies children with a high risk of asthma and/or rhinitis at 16 years, and these findings will be of importance for developing preventive strategies for asthma and Rhinitis in children.
