Journal ArticleDOI
Continuous monitoring of cerebrovascular reactivity using pulse waveform of intracranial pressure.
Marcel J. H. Aries,Marek Czosnyka,Karol P. Budohoski,Angelos G. Kolias,Danila K. Radolovich,Andrea Lavinio,John D. Pickard,Peter Smielewski +7 more
TL;DR: PAx is a new modified index of cerebrovascular reactivity which performs equally well as established PRx in long-term monitoring in severe TBI patients, but importantly is potentially more robust at lower values of ICP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monitoring cerebral autoregulation after head injury. Which component of transcranial Doppler flow velocity is optimal
Karol P. Budohoski,Matthias Reinhard,Marcel J. H. Aries,Zofia Czosnyka,Peter Smielewski,John D. Pickard,Peter J. Kirkpatrick,Marek Czosnyka,Marek Czosnyka +8 more
TL;DR: Systolic flow indices (Sx and Sxa) demonstrated a stronger association with outcome than the mean flow indices(Mx and Mxa, irrespective of whether CPP or ABP was used for calculation), and indices derived from ABP demonstrated the highest discriminatory value when systolic FV was used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Twenty-Five Years of Intracranial Pressure Monitoring After Severe Traumatic Brain Injury: A Retrospective, Single-Center Analysis.
Joseph Donnelly,Joseph Donnelly,Marek Czosnyka,Marek Czosnyka,Hadie Adams,Danilo Cardim,Danilo Cardim,Angelos G. Kolias,Frederick A. Zeiler,Frederick A. Zeiler,Andrea Lavinio,Marcel J. H. Aries,Marcel J. H. Aries,Chiara Robba,Chiara Robba,Peter Smielewski,Peter J. Hutchinson,David K. Menon,John D. Pickard,Karol P. Budohoski +19 more
TL;DR: The evolving trends in neurophysiological monitoring over the past 25 yr from a single, academic neurocritical care unit is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
A map of transcriptional heterogeneity and regulatory variation in human microglia.
Adam Young,Adam Young,Natsuhiko Kumasaka,Fiona Calvert,Timothy R. Hammond,Timothy R. Hammond,Andrew J Knights,Nikolaos Panousis,Jun Sung Park,Jeremy Schwartzentruber,Jimmy Z. Liu,Kousik Kundu,Michael Segel,Natalia A. Murphy,Christopher E McMurran,Harry Bulstrode,Jason Correia,Karol P. Budohoski,Alexis J Joannides,Mathew R. Guilfoyle,Rikin A. Trivedi,Ramez W. Kirollos,Robert H. Morris,Matthew R. Garnett,Ivan Timofeev,Ibrahim Jalloh,Katherine Holland,Richard Mannion,Richard Mair,Colin Watts,Stephen J. Price,Peter J. Kirkpatrick,Thomas Santarius,Edward Mountjoy,Maya Ghoussaini,Nicole Soranzo,Omer Ali Bayraktar,Beth Stevens,Beth Stevens,Peter J. Hutchinson,Robin J.M. Franklin,Daniel J. Gaffney +41 more
TL;DR: In this paper, gene expression variation in primary human microglia isolated from 141 patients undergoing neurosurgery was profiled using expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcranial Doppler: a stethoscope for the brain-neurocritical care use.
Chiara Robba,Chiara Robba,Danilo Cardim,Mypinder S. Sekhon,Karol P. Budohoski,Marek Czosnyka +5 more
TL;DR: Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography is a noninvasive bedside monitoring technique that can evaluate cerebral blood flow hemodynamics in the intracranial arterial vasculature.
