Integrated ecological–economic fisheries models—Evaluation, review and challenges for implementation

J. Rasmus Nielsen, +61 more
- 01 Jan 2018 -
TL;DR: In this article, a global review and comparative evaluation of 35 integrated ecological-economic fisheries models (IEEFMs) applied to marine fisheries and marine ecosystem resources is presented to identify the characteristics that determine their usefulness, effectiveness and implementation.
Journal ArticleDOI

EcoTroph: a simple model to assess fishery interactions and their impacts on ecosystems

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a new development of the EcoTroph model that is devoted to the analysis of fishery interactions and impacts of fleet segments on ecosystems, and derive an Eco-Troph model from an Ecopath model of the Guinea ecosystem, deriving the impacts of the artisanal fishery from those of the industrial fishery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supporting fisheries management by means of complex models: can we point out isles of robustness in a sea of uncertainty?

TL;DR: Management rules controlling fish harvesting that allow reaching management goals recommended by ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Sea) working groups while providing the highest robustness to uncertainties on ecosystem parameters are identified.
Book ChapterDOI

Toward a Dynamical Approach for Systematic Conservation Planning of Eastern English Channel Fisheries

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a first attempt to couple a conservation planning tool (Marxan with Zones) with a mixed fisheries dynamics simulation model (ISIS-Fish), applied to the Eastern English Channel fisheries.
