Journal ArticleDOI
Hypotension based on office and ambulatory monitoring blood pressure. Prevalence and clinical profile among a cohort of 70,997 treated hypertensives
J A Divisón-Garrote,José R. Banegas,Juan J. de la Cruz,Carlos Escobar-Cervantes,Alejandro de la Sierra,Manuel Gorostidi,Ernest Vinyoles,José Abellán-Alemán,Julian Segura,Luis M. Ruilope +9 more
TL;DR: In this large cohort of patients in usual daily practice, one in eight treated hypertensive patients are at risk of hypotension according to daytime BP, and two-thirds of them are not adequately identified with office BP, suggesting ABPM could be especially helpful for identifying ambulatory hypotension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal implications of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockade in heart failure.
TL;DR: Preliminary data indicate that the combination of ACEi and ARA is not accompanied by a higher renal risk, and the good prognostic effects of aldosterone antagonists in HF does not seem to be related to intrarenal effects of these compounds with the exception of preventing potassium loss and hypokalemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eprosartan for the treatment of hypertension
Luis M. Ruilope,Bodo Jäger +1 more
TL;DR: Eprosartan is safe, effective and well-tolerated in long-term treatment, either as a monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs such as hydrochlorothiazide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical exercise and epicardial adipose tissue: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
Gonzalo Saco-Ledo,Pedro L. Valenzuela,Adrián Castillo-García,Joaquín Arenas,Miguel León‐Sanz,Luis M. Ruilope,Alejandro Lucia +6 more
TL;DR: Physical exercise interventions—particularly endurance training, with further evidence needed for other exercise modalities—appear as an effective strategy for reducing EAT in individuals with overweight/obesity, which supports their implementation for cardiovascular risk reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevention of Microalbuminuria in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: What Do We Know?
Luis M. Ruilope,Joseph L. Izzo,Hermann Haller,Bernard Waeber,Suzanne Oparil,Michael A. Weber,George L. Bakris,James R. Sowers +7 more
TL;DR: This poster presents a probabilistic procedure to assess the importance of baseline IgE levels in the decision-making process for ART and its applications in medicine and sport.
