TL;DR: An updated diagnostic algorithm for EoE was developed, with removal of the PPI trial requirement, and the evidence suggests that PPIs are better classified as a treatment for esophageal eosinophilia that may be due to EOE than as a diagnostic criterion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Individuals affected by eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders have complex unmet needs and frequently experience unique barriers to care
Girish Hiremath,Ellyn Kodroff,Mary Jo Strobel,Melissa Scott,Wendy Book,Cathy Reidy,Shay Kyle,Denise Mack,Kathleen Sable,Pablo Abonia,Jonathan M. Spergel,Sandeep K. Gupta,T. Glenn Furuta,Marc E. Rothenberg,Evan S. Dellon +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the unmet needs and barriers to care perceived by individuals affected by Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs) and examined if these varied between adult EGID patients and adult caregivers of children with EGID.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The data suggest that parental report in young children can function as an adequate marker for self‐reported symptoms and that self-reported symptoms can reflect changes in tissue histology in the proximal esophagus.

TL;DR: Individuals affected by EGIDs have a constellation of complex unmet needs and perceived barriers across medical, healthcare, social and emotional domains, and these responses varied between adult EGID patients and adult caregivers of children with EGID.
