Genome-wide association study identifies common loci influencing circulating glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in non-diabetic subjects: the Long Life Family Study (LLFS)
Ping An,Iva Miljkovic,Bharat Thyagarajan,Aldi T. Kraja,E. Warwick Daw,James S. Pankow,Elizabeth Selvin,W. H. Linda Kao,Nisa M. Maruthur,Micahel A. Nalls,Yongmei Liu,Tamara B. Harris,Joseph H. Lee,Ingrid B. Borecki,Kaare Christensen,Kaare Christensen,John H. Eckfeldt,Richard Mayeux,Thomas T. Perls,Anne B. Newman,Michael A. Province +20 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study using non-diabetic participants in the Long Life Family Study (LLFS) uncovered novel loci for HbA1c that are associated with healthy aging and identified 25 suggestive loci including one reconfirmed variant in G6PC2 and one replicated variant near OR10R3P/SPTA1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of association between platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor PlA polymorphism and coronary artery disease or carotid intima-media thickness
Uttam Garg,Donna K. Arnett,Aaron R. Folsom,Michael A. Province,Roger R. Williams,John H. Eckfeldt +5 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Exceptional memory performance in the Long Life Family Study
Sandra Barral,Stephanie Cosentino,Rosann Costa,Stacey L. Andersen,Kaare Christensen,John H. Eckfeldt,John H. Eckfeldt,Anne B. Newman,Thomas T. Perls,Michael A. Province,Evan C. Hadley,Winifred K. Rossi,Richard Mayeux +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that there is a familial correlation of the EM endophenotype, suggesting that genetic variants might influence memory performance in long-lived families.
Journal ArticleDOI
Familial aggregation and genome-wide linkage analysis of carotid artery plaque: the NHLBI family heart study.
James S. Pankow,Gerardo Heiss,Gregory W. Evans,Phyliss Sholinsky,Michael A. Province,Hilary Coon,R. Curtis Ellison,Michael B. Miller,Bahjat F. Qaqish +8 more
TL;DR: There was modest familial aggregation of carotid artery plaque, but a genome-wide scan indicated no regions of significant or suggestive linkage, although suggestive linkage was found on chromosome 2p11.2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of hypothyroidism on vascular 125I-albumin permeation and blood flow in rats.
Ronald G. Tilton,Giuseppe Pugliese,Katherine Chang,Amanda Speedy,Michael A. Province,Charles Kilo,Joseph R. Williamson +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that vascular hemodynamics and endothelial cell barrier functional integrity are modulated in many different tissues by the thyroid, and raises the possibility that altered thyroid function in diabetes may play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetic vascular disease.
