pEGFR-Tyr 845 expression as prognostic factors in oral squamous cell carcinoma: A tissue-microarray study with clinic-pathological correlations
Gabriella Aquino,Giuseppe Pannone,Angela Santoro,Giuseppina Liguori,Renato Franco,Rosario Serpico,Gianluca Florio,Alfredo De Rosa,Marilena Mattoni,Valentina Cozza,Gerardo Botti,Simona Losito,Francesco Longo,Stefania Staibano,Giovanni Cuda,Lorenzo Lo Muzio,Carolina Sbordone,Pantaleo Bufo,Anna Grimaldi,Michele Caraglia,Marina Di Domenico +20 more
TL;DR: The EGFR expression on 149 cases of oral squamous cell cancers (OSCC) is analyzed and it is found that it was poorly expressed in normal oral epithelium, but its expression was significantly increased in OSCCs, confirming the central role of EGF-R activation status as a prognostic biomarker in OS CC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sphingosine analog fingolimod (FTY720) increases radiation sensitivity of human breast cancer cells in vitro
Giulia Marvaso,Agnese Barone,Nicola Amodio,Lavinia Raimondi,Valter Agosti,Emanuela Altomare,Valerio Scotti,Angela Lombardi,Roberto Bianco,Cataldo Bianco,Michele Caraglia,Pierfrancesco Tassone,Pierosandro Tagliaferri +12 more
TL;DR: FTY720 significantly increased anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic effects induced by a single dose of ionizing radiation while causing autophagosome accumulation and significantly potentiated radiation effects on perturbation of signaling pathways involved in regulation of cell cycle and apoptosis, such as PI3K/AKT and MAPK.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epigenetic fingerprint in endometrial carcinogenesis: the hypothesis of a uterine field cancerization.
Marina Di Domenico,Angela Santoro,Carmela Ricciardi,M. Iaccarino,Stefania Iaccarino,Mariagrazia Freda,Antonia Feola,Francesca Sanguedolce,Simona Losito,Daniela Pasquali,Attilio Di Spiezio Sardo,Giuseppe Bifulco,Carmine Nappi,Pantaleo Bufo,Maurizio Guida,Gaetano De Rosa,Alberto Abbruzzese,Michele Caraglia,Giuseppe Pannone +18 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that gene hypermethylation may be an early event in endometrial endometrioid tumorigenesis and suggest that the methylation of hMLH1, CDKN2A/P16 and SFRP1 may clearly distinguish between benign and malignant lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phase II study of sequential hormonal therapy with anastrozole/exemestane in advanced and metastatic breast cancer.
Rosario Vincenz Iaffaioli,R. Formato,A. Tortoriello,S. Del Prete,Michele Caraglia,G. Pappagallo,Antonio Pisano,F. Fanelli,G P Ianniello,S. Cigolari,C. Pizza,O. Marano,G. Pezzella,T. Pedicini,Antonio Febbraro,P. Incoronato,Luigi Manzione,Ettore Ferrari,N. Marzano,S. Quattrin,Salvatore Pisconti,Guglielmo Nasti,G. Giotta,Giuseppe Colucci +23 more
TL;DR: This study confirms that treatment with sequential hormonal agents can extend the period of time during which endocrine therapy can be used, thereby deferring the decision to use chemotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transferrin-Targeted Nanoparticles Containing Zoledronic Acid as a Potential Tool to Inhibit Glioblastoma Growth.
Giuseppina Salzano,Silvia Zappavigna,Amalia Luce,Nunzia D'Onofrio,Maria Luisa Balestrieri,Anna Grimaldi,Sara Lusa,Diego Ingrosso,Simona Artuso,Manuela Porru,Carlo Leonetti,Michele Caraglia,G. De Rosa +12 more
TL;DR: A novel type of easy-to-obtain NPs is introduced for the delivery of ZOL in the treatment of GBM tumors, revealing a significant anticancer activity of Tf-PLCaPZ NPs, while the tumors remained unaffected with free TMZ.
