Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological inhibition of HSP90 and ras activity as a new strategy in the treatment of HNSCC
Gabriella Misso,Gaia Giuberti,Angela Lombardi,Anna Grimaldi,Filippo Ricciardiello,Antonio Giordano,Antonio Giordano,Pierosandro Tagliaferri,Alberto Abbruzzese,Michele Caraglia +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the synergistic TIP/DTX combination determines synergistic apoptotic conditions but, at the same time, it modulates the expression of the components of the multichaperone complex that is, in turn, involved in the regulation of the stability of members of the ras‐mediated pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Role of microRNAs in Development of Colitis-Associated Colorectal Cancer.
Marco Bocchetti,Maria Grazia Ferraro,Filippo Ricciardiello,Alessandro Ottaiano,Amalia Luce,Amalia Luce,Alessia Maria Cossu,Marianna Scrima,Wing Yan Leung,Marianna Abate,Paola Stiuso,Michele Caraglia,Silvia Zappavigna,Tung On Yau +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors summarize the major upregulated and downregulated miRNAs in colitis-associated colorectal cancer and their roles in genes expression modulation in chronic colonic-inflammation-induced carcinogenesis, including programmed cell-death pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of perineural invasion as a prognostic factor in laryngeal cancer.
Massimo Mesolella,Brigida Iorio,Gabriella Misso,Amalia Luce,Mariano Cimmino,Maurizio Iengo,Mario Landi,Pasquale Sperlongano,Michele Caraglia,Filippo Ricciardiello +9 more
TL;DR: The results of the present study highlighted the importance of performing a closer clinical and instrumental follow-up in patients with laryngeal cancer whose histopathological examination is positive for PNI, and it is important to complement the surgical therapeutic treatment with adjuvant RT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Theophylline-induced apoptosis is paralleled by protein kinase A-dependent tissue transglutaminase activation in cancer cells.
Michele Caraglia,Monica Marra,Gaia Giuberti,Anna Maria D'Alessandro,Simone Beninati,Alessandro Lentini,Stefano Pepe,Mariarosaria Boccellino,Alberto Abbruzzese +8 more
TL;DR: A mechanistic model of theophylline action and anti-tumour strategies based on the concomitant use of thephylline and agents that potentiate tTGase activity can be hypothesized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumour-specific uptake of anti-cancer drugs: the future is here.
Michele Caraglia,Monica Marra,Gabriella Misso,Monica Lamberti,Giuseppina Salzano,Giuseppe De Rosa,Alberto Abbruzzese +6 more
TL;DR: A new avenue in anti-cancer treatment has been disclosed with the use of DDS and the different reasons to encapsulate an anti-tumour drug in DDS including eventual damages induced by their extravasation or by eccipients used to their solubilisation, the rapid break-down of the drug in vivo and the specific bio-distribution of theDrug in tumour tissues.
