NAD(P)H Oxidase Nox-4 Mediates 7-Ketocholesterol-Induced Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Apoptosis in Human Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells

TL;DR: It is shown that 7-ketocholesterol (7-Kchol) induces oxidative stress and/or apoptotic events in human aortic smooth muscle cells (SMCs), which is consistent with the hypothesis that Nox-4/oxysterols are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase 1/2 Pathway Is Involved in formyl-Methionyl-Leucyl-Phenylalanine-Induced p47phox Phosphorylation in Human Neutrophils

TL;DR: Results show for the first time that the ERK1/2 pathway participates in the phosphorylation of p47phox and strongly suggest that p 47phox is targeted by several kinase cascades in intact neutrophils activated by fMLP and is therefore a converging point for ERK 1/2 and protein kinase C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Priming of human neutrophil respiratory burst by granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) involves partial phosphorylation of p47(phox).

TL;DR: Results show that the priming action of GM-CSF on the neutrophil respiratory burst involves partial phosphorylation of p47 phox on specific serines and suggest the involvement of a priming pathway regulated by protein-tyrosine kinase and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase.
