A Giant Planet Imaged in the Disk of the Young Star β Pictoris
Anne-Marie Lagrange,Mickael Bonnefoy,Gael Chauvin,Daniel Apai,David Ehrenreich,Anthony Boccaletti,Damien Gratadour,Daniel Rouan,David Mouillet,Sylvestre Lacour,M. Kasper +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the ~10-million-year-oldβ Pictoris system hosts a massive giant planet, β Pictoris b, located 8 to 15 astronomical units from the star, which confirms that gas giant planets form rapidly within disks and validates the use of disk structures as fingerprints of embedded planets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asymmetric features in the protoplanetary disk MWC 758
Myriam Benisty,Attila Juhasz,Anthony Boccaletti,Henning Avenhaus,Julien Milli,C. Thalmann,Carsten Dominik,Paola Pinilla,Esther Buenzli,A. Pohl,A. Pohl,J. L. Beuzit,Tilman Birnstiel,J. de Boer,Mickael Bonnefoy,Gael Chauvin,Valentin Christiaens,Antonio Garufi,Carol A. Grady,Thomas Henning,Nuria Huélamo,Andrea Isella,Maud Langlois,Francois Menard,Francois Menard,David Mouillet,Johan Olofsson,Eric Pantin,Christophe Pinte,Christophe Pinte,Laurent Pueyo +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, a model based on the spiral density wave theory with two planetary companions in circular orbits was proposed to detect non-axisymmetric features and understand their origin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spiral Arms in the Asymmetrically Illuminated Disk of MWC 758 and Constraints on Giant Planets
Carol A. Grady,Takayuki Muto,Jun Hashimoto,Misato Fukagawa,Thayne Currie,Thayne Currie,Beth Biller,Christian Thalmann,Michael L. Sitko,Michael L. Sitko,Ray W. Russell,John P. Turner,Edwin L. Turner,Makoto Watanabe,Toru Yamada,Hideki Takami,Tomonori Usuda,Motohide Tamura,Motohide Tamura +78 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the first near-IR scattered light detection of the transitional disk associated with the Herbig Ae star MWC 758 using data obtained as part of the Strategic Exploration of Exoplanets and Disks with Subaru, and 1.1 {$μ$}m Hubble Space Telescope/NICMOS data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a Probable 4-5 Jupiter-mass Exoplanet to HD 95086 by Direct Imaging

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the discovery of a probable companion orbiting the young (10-17 Myr), dusty, early-type (A8) star HD 95086 at 56 AU in L' (3.8 {mu}m) images.
Journal ArticleDOI
