Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent activation of an innate immune response translates respiratory viral infection into chronic lung disease.
Edy Y. Kim,John T. Battaile,Anand C. Patel,Yingjian You,Eugene Agapov,Mitchell H. Grayson,Loralyn A. Benoit,Derek E. Byers,Yael G. Alevy,Jennifer Tucker,Suzanne Swanson,Rose M. Tidwell,Jeffrey W. Tyner,Jeffrey D. Morton,Mario Castro,Deepika Polineni,G. Alexander Patterson,Reto A. Schwendener,John Allard,Gary Peltz,Michael J. Holtzman +20 more
TL;DR: It is found that this type of disease arises independently of an adaptive immune response and is driven instead by interleukin-13 produced by macrophages that have been stimulated by CD1d-dependent T cell receptor–invariant natural killer T (NKT) cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Depletion of Dendritic Cells, But Not Macrophages, in Patients with Sepsis
Richard S. Hotchkiss,Kevin W. Tinsley,Paul E. Swanson,Mitchell H. Grayson,Dale F. Osborne,Tracey H. Wagner,J. Perren Cobb,Craig M. Coopersmith,Irene E. Karl +8 more
TL;DR: The dramatic loss of DCs in sepsis may significantly impair B and T cell function and contribute to the immune suppression that is a hallmark of the disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patient burden and quality of life in atopic dermatitis in US adults: A population-based cross-sectional study
Jonathan I. Silverberg,Joel M. Gelfand,David J. Margolis,Mark Boguniewicz,Luz Fonacier,Mitchell H. Grayson,Eric L. Simpson,Peck Y. Ong,Zelma C. Chiesa Fuxench +8 more
TL;DR: These data support the heavy burden that AD places on patients, particularly those with moderate and severe AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19: Pandemic Contingency Planning for the Allergy and Immunology Clinic.
Marcus Shaker,Marcus Shaker,John Oppenheimer,Mitchell H. Grayson,David R. Stukus,Nicholas Hartog,Elena W Y Hsieh,Nicholas L. Rider,Cullen M. Dutmer,Timothy K. Vander Leek,Harold Kim,Edmond S. Chan,Doug Mack,Anne K. Ellis,David M. Lang,Jay A. Lieberman,David Fleischer,David B.K. Golden,Dana Wallace,Jay M. Portnoy,Giselle Mosnaim,Matthew Greenhawt +21 more
TL;DR: An expert panel consensus document offers a prioritization rational to help guide decision making when such situations arise and an allergist/immunologist is forced to reduce services or makes the decision on his or her own to do so.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prenatal maternal stress and cord blood innate and adaptive cytokine responses in an inner-city cohort.
Rosalind J. Wright,Cynthia M. Visness,Agustin Calatroni,Mitchell H. Grayson,Diane R. Gold,Megan Sandel,Aviva Lee-Parritz,Robert A. Wood,Meyer Kattan,Gordon R. Bloomberg,Melissa S. Burger,Alkis Togias,Frank R. Witter,Rhoda S. Sperling,Yoel Sadovsky,James E. Gern +15 more
TL;DR: Prenatal stress was associated with altered innate and adaptive immune responses in CBMCs and stress-induced perinatal immunomodulation may impact the expression of allergic disease in these children.
