Social–environmental drivers inform strategic management of coral reefs in the Anthropocene

Emily S. Darling, +94 more
TL;DR: Comprehensive coral abundance data from 2,584 Indo-Pacific reefs is compiled to evaluate the influence of 21 climate, social and environmental drivers on the ecology of reef coral assemblages and proposes a framework of three management strategies to protect, recover or transform coral reef management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acehnese reefs in the wake of the Asian tsunami

TL;DR: It is shown that on the northwest coast of Aceh, Indonesia, where the tsunami was most ferocious, the damage to corals was surprisingly limited, and human modification of the reef did not contribute to the magnitude of damage on land.
Journal ArticleDOI

Depth-dependent mortality of reef corals following a severe bleaching event: implications for thermal refuges and population recovery.

TL;DR: It is shown that coral mortality following a severe bleaching event diminished sharply with depth, demonstrating that depth provided a refuge for individuals from a high proportion of species in this Acropora-dominated assemblage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Growth performance and feed utilization of keureling (Tor tambra) fingerlings fed a formulated diet with different doses of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)

TL;DR: It was concluded that the optimum, most economical dose of vitamin E supplement for keureling (T. tambra) was 150 mg kg−1 feed, because this value was not significantly different from the doses of 300 and 600 mg kg+1 feed.
