Genome sequence and analysis of the tuber crop potato.

Xun Xu, +96 more
- 10 Jul 2011 -
TL;DR: The potato genome sequence provides a platform for genetic improvement of this vital crop and predicts 39,031 protein-coding genes and presents evidence for at least two genome duplication events indicative of a palaeopolyploid origin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide identification and mapping of NBS-encoding resistance genes in Solanum tuberosum group phureja.

TL;DR: In the recently sequenced Solanum tuberosum group phureja genome, a surprising ∼41% (179) of the 435 NBS-encoding genes are pseudogenes primarily caused by premature stop codons or frameshift mutations, and these genes are found in high density clusters on 11 chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Accumulation of heavy metals in native Andean plants: potential tools for soil phytoremediation in Ancash (Peru)

TL;DR: Nine native plant species, previously identified as potential hyperaccumulators, from areas impacted by mine tailings in the Ancash region are characterized to suggest that these plant species have a great potential for soil phytoremediation, given their capability to accumulate and transfer metals and their tolerance to highly metal-polluted environments in the Andean region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transcriptomic profiling against Globodera-pallida in resistant and susceptible potato roots

TL;DR: Differences in the expression of an NBS-LRR protein similar to Gro1-8, genes linked to late blight and TMV virus resistance are shown.
