TL;DR: To estimate the minimal gene set required to sustain bacterial life in nutritious conditions, a systematic inactivation of Bacillus subtilis genes was carried out and most genes involved in the Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas pathway are essential.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signaling Pathways in Cancer and Embryonic Stem Cells
Oliver Dreesen,Ali H. Brivanlou +1 more
TL;DR: This work presents a systematic analysis of seven major signaling pathways implicated in both cancer and stem cells and presents a map of the signaling networks involved in cancer and embryonic stem cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fermentative metabolism of Bacillus subtilis: physiology and regulation of gene expression.
Hugo Cruz Ramos,Tamara Hoffmann,Tamara Hoffmann,Tamara Hoffmann,Marco Marino,Hafed Nedjari,Elena Presecan-Siedel,Oliver Dreesen,Philippe Glaser,Dieter Jahn +9 more
TL;DR: In agreement with its known aerobic function, no obvious oxygen- or nitrate-dependent pta regulation was observed and a model for the regulation of the anaerobic fermentation genes in B. subtilis is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biomarkers of cellular senescence and skin aging
TL;DR: The efficacy of biomarkers to detect senescence within different skin compartments and cell types, and how they may contribute to myriad manifestations of skin aging and age-related skin pathologies are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lamin B1 fluctuations have differential effects on cellular proliferation and senescence
Oliver Dreesen,Alexandre Chojnowski,Peh Fern Ong,Tian Yun Zhao,John E.A. Common,Declan P. Lunny,E. Birgitte Lane,Shu Jin Lee,Leah A. Vardy,Colin L. Stewart,Alan Colman +10 more
TL;DR: Both LMNB1 depletion and overexpression inhibit proliferation, but onlyLMNB1 overexpressed induces senescence.
