El Niño–Southern Oscillation complexity

Axel Timmermann, +50 more
- 26 Jul 2018 -
TL;DR: A synopsis of the current understanding of the spatio-temporal complexity of this important climate mode and its influence on the Earth system is provided and a unifying framework that identifies the key factors for this complexity is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Climatic and biotic thresholds of coral-reef shutdown

TL;DR: In this article, a 6,750-year coral core from Pacific Panama identified the environmental conditions associated with abrupt reef shutdown and identified the conditions that led to coral die-off.
Journal ArticleDOI

Challenges in Building Coastal Digital Elevation Models

TL;DR: This work identifies common challenges in building square-cell, coastal DEMs and presents some solutions, and best practices to help improve DEM accuracy and utility are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of U/Th and rapid-screen 14C dates from Line Island fossil corals

TL;DR: In this paper, a rapid-screen 14C dating technique was used on shallow-water corals by comparing 44 rapid screen 14C dates to both high precision 14C and U/Th dates from mid- to late-Holocene fossil corals collected from the central tropical Pacific (2-4°N, 157-160°W).
