Power,Harun Rashid,Hong Li Ren,Agus Santoso,Ken Takahashi,Alexander Todd,Guomin Wang,Guojian Wang,Ruihuang Xie,Woo Hyun Yang,Sang-Wook Yeh,Jin-Ho Yoon,Elke Zeller,Xuebin Zhang +50 more
TL;DR: A synopsis of the current understanding of the spatio-temporal complexity of this important climate mode and its influence on the Earth system is provided and a unifying framework that identifies the key factors for this complexity is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased frequency of extreme La Niña events under greenhouse warming
Wenju Cai,Wenju Cai,Guojian Wang,Guojian Wang,Agus Santoso,Michael J. McPhaden,Lixin Wu,Fei-Fei Jin,Axel Timmermann,Mat Collins,Gabriel A. Vecchi,Matthieu Lengaigne,Matthew H. England,Dietmar Dommenget,Ken Takahashi,Eric Guilyardi,Eric Guilyardi +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an increase in frequency of La Nina events was predicted due to faster land warming relative to the ocean, and a greater chance of them occurring following extreme El Nino events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pantropical Climate Interactions
Wenju Cai,Wenju Cai,Lixin Wu,Matthieu Lengaigne,Matthieu Lengaigne,Tim Li,Shayne McGregor,Jong-Seong Kug,Jin-Yi Yu,Malte F. Kang,Jun-Young Choi,Bolan Gan,Geon-Il Kim,Chang Eun Kim,Sun-Young Kim,Jeong-Hwan Kim,Ping Chang +39 more
TL;DR: Advances in the understanding of pantropical interbasin climate interactions are reviewed and their implications for both climate prediction and future climate projections are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Cautionary Note on the Interpretation of EOFs
Dietmar Dommenget,Mojib Latif +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that patterns derived from EOF analyses can be misleading at times and associated with very little climate physics and that caution should be used when trying to interpret these statistically derived modes and their significance.
Journal ArticleDOI
ENSO Atmospheric Teleconnections and Their Response to Greenhouse Gas Forcing
Sang-Wook Yeh,Wenju Cai,Wenju Cai,Seung-Ki Min,Michael J. McPhaden,Dietmar Dommenget,Boris Dewitte,Matthew Collins,Karumuri Ashok,Soon Il An,Bo Young Yim,Jong-Seong Kug +11 more
TL;DR: Wenju Cai et al. as mentioned in this paper was supported by Earth System and Climate Change Hub of the Australia National Environmental Science Programme, and Centre for Southern Hemisphere Oceans Research, an international collaboration between CSIRO and Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Sciences and Technology.
