Journal ArticleDOI

Incidence and outcomes of neonatal acute kidney injury (AWAKEN): a multicentre, multinational, observational cohort study.

TL;DR: Neonatal AKI is a common and independent risk factor for mortality and longer hospital stay, and data suggest that neonates may be impacted by AKI in a manner similar to pediatric and adult patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Endothelial infection with KSHV genes in vivo reveals that vGPCR initiates Kaposi's sarcomagenesis and can promote the tumorigenic potential of viral latent genes

TL;DR: It is shown that transduction of one gene, vGPCR, was sufficient to induce angioproliferative tumors that strikingly resembled human KS, suggesting a cooperative role among viral genes in the promotion of Kaposi's sarcomagenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

An HIV-1 transgenic rat that develops HIV-related pathology and immunologic dysfunction

TL;DR: The HIV-1 Tg rat may provide a valuable model for some of the pathogenic manifestations of chronic HIV- 1 diseases and could be useful in testing therapeutic regimens targeted to stages of viral replication subsequent to proviral integration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Controversies in acute kidney injury : conclusions from a Kidney Disease : Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Conference

TL;DR: This work reviews key relevant literature published since the 2012 KDIGO AKI guideline and outlines research needed to improve AKI management.
