Journal ArticleDOI
Class-switch recombination occurs infrequently in germinal centers
Jonathan A. Roco,Luka Mesin,Sebastian Binder,Christian M. Nefzger,Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa,Pablo F. Canete,Julia I. Ellyard,Qian Shen,Philippe Robert,Jean Cappello,Harpreet Vohra,Yang Zhang,Carla R. Nowosad,Ariën Schiepers,Lynn M. Corcoran,Lynn M. Corcoran,Kai-Michael Toellner,Jose M. Polo,Michael Meyer-Hermann,Gabriel D. Victora,Carola G. Vinuesa,Carola G. Vinuesa +21 more
TL;DR: It is shown that CSR is triggered prior to differentiation into GC B cells or plasmablasts and is greatly diminished in GCs, and the existence of IgM-dominated GCs is demonstrated, which are unlikely to occur under the assumption of ongoing switching.
Journal ArticleDOI
TFH-derived dopamine accelerates productive synapses in germinal centres
Ilenia Papa,David Saliba,Maurilio Ponzoni,Sonia Bustamante,Pablo F. Canete,Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa,Hayley A. McNamara,Salvatore Valvo,Michele A. Grimbaldeston,Rebecca A. Sweet,Harpreet Vohra,Ian A. Cockburn,Michael Meyer-Hermann,Michael L. Dustin,Claudio Doglioni,Carola G. Vinuesa,Carola G. Vinuesa +16 more
TL;DR: A proportion of human TFH cells contain dense-core granules marked by chromogranin B, which are normally found in neuronal presynaptic terminals storing catecholamines such as dopamine, and delivery of neurotransmitters across the T–B-cell synapse may be advantageous in the face of infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Follicular regulatory T cells produce neuritin to regulate B cells
Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa,Jonathan A. Roco,Ilenia Papa,Lorena Nunez Villacis,Maurice Stanley,Michelle A. Linterman,Alexander L. Dent,Pablo F. Canete,Carola G. Vinuesa +8 more
TL;DR: This paper showed that BCL6-expressing Tregs, known as follicular regulatory T (Tfr) cells, produce abundant neuritin protein that targets B cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulatory roles of IL-10-producing human follicular T cells.
Pablo F. Canete,Rebecca A. Sweet,Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa,Ilenia Papa,Naganari Ohkura,Holly A. Bolton,Jonathan A. Roco,Marta Cuenca,Katharine J. Bassett,Ismail Sayin,Emma F Barry,Angel F. Lopez,David H. Canaday,Michael Meyer-Hermann,Claudio Doglioni,Barbara Fazekas de St Groth,Shimon Sakaguchi,Matthew C. Cook,Matthew C. Cook,Carola G. Vinuesa +19 more
TL;DR: A human follicular regulatory T cell population that does not express FOXP3 and produces abundant IL-10, which limits IgE switching is described, which appears to be key regulators of atopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Harnessing DNA-induced immune responses for improving cancer vaccines
Andrés A. Herrada,Nicole Rojas-Colonelli,Paula Gonzalez-Figueroa,Jonathan A. Roco,Cesar Oyarce,Maarten A. Ligtenberg,Alvaro Lladser +6 more
TL;DR: Recent evidence showing how to harness DNA-induced immune response to improve the potency of cancer vaccines and counteract tumor-associated tolerance is discussed.
