Journal ArticleDOI
Degradation of p53 by adenovirus E4orf6 and E1B55K proteins occurs via a novel mechanism involving a Cullin-containing complex
Emmanuelle Querido,Paola Blanchette,Qin Yan,Takumi Kamura,Megan R. Morrison,Dominique Boivin,William G. Kaelin,Ronald C. Conaway,Joan W. Conaway,Philip E. Branton +9 more
TL;DR: A novel role for the Cullin-based machinery in regulation of p53 is identified, which is remarkably similar to the von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor and SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The retinoblastoma binding protein RBP2 is an H3K4 demethylase.
Robert J. Klose,Qin Yan,Qin Yan,Zuzana Tothova,Zuzana Tothova,Kenichi Yamane,Hediye Erdjument-Bromage,Paul Tempst,D. Gary Gilliland,D. Gary Gilliland,Yi Zhang,William G. Kaelin,William G. Kaelin +12 more
TL;DR: It is reported that RBP2 is a demethylase that specifically catalyzes demethylation on H3K4, whose methylation is normally associated with transcriptionally active genes, and the first example of a mammalian enzyme capable of erasing trimethylated H 3K4 is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide CRISPR Screens Reveal Host Factors Critical for SARS-CoV-2 Infection.
Jin Wei,Mia Madel Alfajaro,Peter C DeWeirdt,Ruth E Hanna,William J. Lu-Culligan,Wesley L. Cai,Madison S. Strine,Shang Min Zhang,Vincent R. Graziano,Cameron O. Schmitz,Jennifer S. Chen,Madeleine C. Mankowski,Renata B. Filler,Neal G. Ravindra,Victor Gasque,Fernando J. de Miguel,Ajinkya Patil,Ajinkya Patil,Huacui Chen,Kasopefoluwa Y. Oguntuyo,Laura Abriola,Yulia V. Surovtseva,Robert C. Orchard,Benhur Lee,Brett D. Lindenbach,Katerina Politi,David van Dijk,Cigall Kadoch,Cigall Kadoch,Matthew D. Simon,Qin Yan,John G. Doench,Craig B. Wilen +32 more
TL;DR: It is shown that small molecule antagonists of identified gene products inhibited SARS-CoV-2 infection in monkey and human cells, demonstrating the conserved role of these genetic hits across species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long noncoding RNA LINC00336 inhibits ferroptosis in lung cancer by functioning as a competing endogenous RNA
Min Wang,Chao Mao,Lianlian Ouyang,Yating Liu,Weiwei Lai,Na Liu,Ying Shi,Ling Chen,Desheng Xiao,Fenglei Yu,Xiang Wang,Hu Zhou,Ya Cao,Shuang Liu,Qin Yan,Yongguang Tao,Bin Zhang +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a nuclear lncRNA LINC00336 is upregulated in lung cancer and functions as an oncogene by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNAs) and found that MIR6852 inhibited cell growth by promoting ferroptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Rbx1 subunit of SCF and VHL E3 ubiquitin ligase activates Rub1 modification of cullins Cdc53 and Cul2
TL;DR: These findings identify Rbx1 as a common component of enzyme systems responsible for ubiquitin and Rub1 modification of target proteins.
