TL;DR: The term "vulnerable patient" may be more appropriate and is proposed now for the identification of subjects with high likelihood of developing cardiac events in the near future and a quantitative method for cumulative risk assessment of vulnerable patients needs to be developed.

From Vulnerable Plaque to Vulnerable Patient—Part III: Executive Summary of the Screening for Heart Attack Prevention and Education (SHAPE) Task Force Report
Morteza Naghavi,Erling Falk,Harvey S. Hecht,Michael J. Jamieson,Sanjay Kaul,Daniel S. Berman,Zahi A. Fayad,Matthew J. Budoff,John A. Rumberger,Tasneem Z. Naqvi,Leslee J. Shaw,Ole Faergeman,Jay N. Mendes,Pamela S. Douglas,Prediman K. Shah +26 more
TL;DR: The Screening for Heart Attack Prevention and Education (SHAPE) Task Force presents a new practice guideline for cardiovascular screening in the asymptomatic at-risk population, calling for noninvasive screening of all asymptonomatic men 45‐75 years of age and asymPTomatic women 55‐75years of age to detect and treat those with subclinical atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Weisfeldt +22 more
TL;DR: An approach to the treatment of acute myocardial infarction is supported that includes early intravenous administration of t-PA and deferred cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty and did not influence the ejection fraction at rest.
Journal ArticleDOI

Paul A. Gurbel,Victor L. Serebruany,Andrew R. Shustov,Raymond D. Bahr,Cynthia Carpo,E. Magnus Ohman,Eric J. Topol +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of reteplase and alteplases on platelet aggregation and major surface antigen expression during the first 24 hours of infarction therapy are unknown.
