Journal ArticleDOI
Haemoglobin and vascular function in the human retinal vascular bed.
Martin Ritt,Joanna Harazny,Stephanie Schmidt,Ulrike Raff,Christian Ott,Georg Michelson,Roland E. Schmieder +6 more
TL;DR: Haemoglobin emerged as an independent determinant of vascular function in the human retinal vascular bed as a parameter of basal NO activity of retinal vasculature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal denervation in the management of hypertension in adults. A clinical consensus statement of the ESC Council on Hypertension and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI).
Emanuele Barbato,Michel Azizi,Roland E. Schmieder,Lucas Lauder,Michael Böhm,Sofie Brouwers,Rosa Maria Bruno,Dariusz Dudek,Thomas Kahan,David E. Kandzari,Thomas F. Lüscher,Gianfranco Parati,Atul Pathak,Flavio Ribichini,Markus P. Schlaich,Andrew S.P. Sharp,Isabella Sudano,Massimo Volpe,Costas Tsioufis,William Wijns,Felix Mahfoud +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors proposed that renal denervation (RDN) is an adjunct treatment option in uncontrolled resistant hypertension, confirmed by ambulatory BP measurements, despite best efforts at lifestyle and pharmacological interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Afferent renal innervation in anti-Thy1.1 nephritis in rats.
Kristina Rodionova,Roland Veelken,Karl F. Hilgers,Eva-Maria Paulus,Peter Linz,Michael Fischer,Martina Schenker,Peter W. Reeh,Gisa Tiegs,Christian Ott,Roland E. Schmieder,Mario Schiffer,Kerstin Amann,Tilmann Ditting +13 more
TL;DR: In nephritic rats, it can be speculated that afferent renal nerves lose their ability to properly control efferent sympathetic nerve activity while influencing renal inflammation through increased CGRP release.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kriterien der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kardiologie, Deutschen Hochdruckliga e.V. DHL®/Deutschen Gesellschaft für Hypertonie und Prävention und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Nephrologie zur Zertifizierung von „Renale-Denervations-Zentren (RDZ)“
Felix Mahfoud,Oliver Vonend,Ulrich Kintscher,Sebastian Ewen,Jürgen Floege,C. W. Hamm,Martin Hausberg,Benny Levenson,Christoph Naber,A. Elsässer,Sebastian A. Potthoff,Lars Christian Rump,C. Erley,Roland E. Schmieder,Heribert Schunkert,Thomas Zeller,Michael Böhm +16 more
TL;DR: The criteria for certification of renal denervation centers, in addition to personnel and facility requirements, proper patient selection as well as pre- and post-procedural follow-up examinations are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of neurodegeneration in individuals with only mildly elevated blood pressure.
Susanne Jung,Agnes Bosch,Nikolas Kohler,Christian Ott,Dennis Kannenkeril,Thomas Dienemann,J.M. Harazny,Georg Michelson,Roland E. Schmieder +8 more
TL;DR: An inverse association between retinal neurodegenerative processes and DBP is observed, suggesting that BP-lowering therapy by early antihypertensive drug-treatment might be beneficial to avoid early neurodegenersation.
