Aliskiren Monotherapy Does Not Cause Paradoxical Blood Pressure Rises Meta-Analysis of Data From 8 Clinical Trials
Alice Stanton,Alan H. Gradman,Roland E. Schmieder,Juerg Nussberger,Ramesh Sarangapani,Margaret F. Prescott +5 more
TL;DR: A meta-analysis of data from 4877 patients from 8 randomized, double-blind, placebo- and/or active-controlled trials found no evidence that aliskiren uniquely causes paradoxical rises in blood pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihypertensive Therapy: To Stop or Not to Stop?
TL;DR: Stopping antihypertensive therapy without subsequent rise in arterial pressure was shown to be possible in a subset of patients with mild essential hypertension for a period of months to years, and appears to be safe, provided that blood pressure is monitored frequently.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood Pressure Pattern and Target Organ Damage in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease.
Johannes B. Scheppach,Ulrike Raff,Sebastian Toncar,Christian Ritter,Thorsten Klink,Stefan Störk,Christoph Wanner,Georg Schlieper,Turgay Saritas,Sebastian Reinartz,Jürgen Floege,Rolf Janka,Michael Uder,Roland E. Schmieder,Kai-Uwe Eckardt,Kai-Uwe Eckardt,Markus P. Schneider,Markus P. Schneider +17 more
TL;DR: Ambulatory BP monitoring should be used routinely to identify chronic kidney disease patients at high cardiovascular risk, and both types of misclassification were associated with parameters of target organ damage.
Journal ArticleDOI
12-Month Results From the Unblinded Phase of the RADIANCE-HTN SOLO Trial of Ultrasound Renal Denervation
Michel Azizi,Joost Daemen,Melvin D. Lobo,Felix Mahfoud,Andrew S P Sharp,Roland E. Schmieder,Yale Wang,Manish Saxena,Philipp Lurz,Jeremy Sayer,Michael J. Bloch,Jan Basile,Michael A. Kirtane,Radiance-Htn Investigators +26 more
TL;DR: The results of the RADIANCE-HTN (A Study of the ReCor Medical Paradise System in Clinical Hypertension) SOLO trial following unblinding of patients at 6 months were reported in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Arteriovenous Anastomosis on Blood Pressure Reduction in Patients With Isolated Systolic Hypertension Compared With Combined Hypertension.
Christian Ott,Melvin D. Lobo,Paul A. Sobotka,Felix Mahfoud,Alice Stanton,John R. Cockcroft,Neil Sulke,Eamon Dolan,Markus van der Giet,Joachim Hoyer,Stephen Furniss,John P. Foran,Adam Witkowski,Andrzej Januszewicz,Danny Schoors,Konstantinos Tsioufis,Benno J. Rensing,Manish Saxena,Benjamin Scott,G. André Ng,Stephan Achenbach,Roland E. Schmieder +21 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that creation of an arteriovenous anastomosis using the ROX coupler system leads to a similar reduction of office and 24‐hour ambulatory systolic BP in patients with combined and isolated systolics hypertension.
