TL;DR: While patient and disease factors contribute to the variation in GC use, between-centre differences suggest that physician-related factors also contribute, evidence-based treatment algorithms are needed to inform a more standardized approach to GC use in SLE.

TL;DR: To evaluate the impact of medication exposures on cancer risk in SLE, cooperative efforts of Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics and Canadian Network for Improved Outcomes in Systemic lupus are currently in progress, which should provide much-needed insight into the pathogenesis of the association between cancer and SLE.
