Journal ArticleDOI
A genetic first approach to dissecting the heterogeneity of autism: phenotypic comparison of autism risk copy number variants
Samuel J.R.A. Chawner,Joanne L. Doherty,Hayley Moss,Carrie E. Bearden,Wendy K. Chung,Sarah Curran,Jeremy Hall,Sébastien Jacquemont,Wendy R. Kates,Jacob A. S. Vorstman,Michael John Owen,Marianne Bernadette van den Bree +11 more
TL;DR: Autism prevalence differed by syndrome, indicating that autism is dissociable at the genetic level, and supports the view that different biological pathways underpin distinct symptom domains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of single nucleotide polymorphism quantification in pooled DNA samples with SNaPIT. A glycosylase-mediated methods for polymorphism detection method.
Sarah Curran,L Hill,Geraldine O'Grady,D. Turic,Philip Asherson,Eric Taylor,Pak C. Sham,Ian W. Craig,Pat Vaughan +8 more
TL;DR: The application of the SNaPIT™ technology to evaluate allele frequencies in pooled DNA samples is reported and it is concluded that it offers a cost effective, efficient and accurate estimator and provides several advantages over competing technologies in this regard.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 8th annual pharmacogenetics in psychiatry meeting report.
Katherine J. Aitchison,Alessandro Serretti,David Goldman,Sarah Curran,Antonio Drago,Anil K. Malhotra +5 more
TL;DR: The 8th Annual Pharmacogenetics in Psychiatry Meeting was held in New York City on 17 and 18 April 2009 with a series of panel presentations, as well as plenary lectures and a debate on the strengths and weakness of the meta-analytic approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
BBGRE: brain and body genetic resource exchange.
Joo Wook Ahn,Abhishek Dixit,Caroline E. Johnston,Caroline Mackie Ogilvie,David A. Collier,Sarah Curran,Richard Dobson +6 more
TL;DR: This work presents a resource for clinicians and researchers to identify specific copy number variants and associated phenotypes in patients from a single catchment area, tested using array CGH at the SE Thames Regional Genetics Centre, London.
Journal ArticleDOI
The UK's strong contribution to health globally
Nadeem Hasan,Sarah Curran,Arnoupe Jhass,Shoba Poduval,Helena Legido-Quigley,Helena Legido-Quigley,Nigel Crisp +6 more
TL;DR: National life tables, United Kingdom, 2011–2013, and life expectancy at birth and at age 65 by local areas in England and Wales, 2011-13, are published.
