Astrocyte reactivity influences amyloid-β effects on tau pathology in preclinical Alzheimer’s disease
Bruna Bellaver,Guilherme Povala,Pâmela C. Lukasewicz Ferreira,J. P. Ferrari-Souza,Douglas Teixeira Leffa,Firoza Z. Lussier,Andrea Lessa Benedet,Nicholas J. Ashton,Gallen B. Triana-Baltzer,Hartmuth C. Kolb,Cecile Tissot,Joseph Therriault,Stijn Servaes,Jenna Stevenson,Nesrine Rahmouni,Oscar L. Lopez,Dana L. Tudorascu,Victor L. Villemagne,Milos D. Ikonomovic,Serge Gauthier,Eduardo R. Zimmer,Henrik Zetterberg,Kaj Blennow,Howard J. Aizenstein,William E. Klunk,Beth E. Snitz,Pauline M. Maki,Rebecca C. Thurston,A. Chen,Mary Ganguli,Thomas K. Karikari,Pedro Rosa-Neto,Tharick A. Pascoal +32 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a biomarker study across three cohorts (n = 1,016) tested whether astrocyte reactivity modulates the association of Aβ with tau phosphorylation in cognitively unimpaired individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic Impact of Cerebrospinal Fluid Biomarkers in Atypical Dementias in Canada.
Sophie E.M. van den Brink,Laila El Amrani,Joseph Therriault,Serge Gauthier,Pedro Rosa-Neto,Paolo Vitali +5 more
TL;DR: Cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers improved diagnostic accuracy in atypical cognitively-impaired patients beyond standard workup and FDG-PET imaging, and these results support CSF analysis implementation for atypicals dementias in Canada, in addition to the standard diagnostic workup.
Book ChapterDOI
Cognitive impairment in Alzheimer disease
Gérard Emilien,Cécile Durlach,Kenneth L. Minaker,Bengt Winblad,Serge Gauthier,Jean-Marie Maloteaux +5 more
TL;DR: The most important cognitive deficit of AD is the progressive loss of memory that is manifested according to the traditional classification in both STM and LTM tasks (see Table 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3) as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood-brain barrier integrity impacts the use of plasma amyloid-β as a proxy of brain amyloid-β pathology.
Bruna Bellaver,Albert Puig-Pijoan,J. P. Ferrari-Souza,Douglas Teixeira Leffa,Firoza Z. Lussier,Pâmela C. Lukasewicz Ferreira,Cecile Tissot,Guilherme Povala,Joseph Therriault,Andrea Lessa Benedet,Nicholas J. Lopez,Dana L. Tudorascu,A. Chen,Victor L. Villemagne,William E. Klunk,Serge Gauthier,Eduardo R. Zimmer,Thomas K. Karikari,Kaj Blennow,Henrik Zetterberg,Marc Suárez-Calvet,Pedro Rosa-Neto,Tharick A. Pascoal +32 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the effect of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity on the relationship between brain and p-tau levels and found that the BBB integrity did not significantly affect the relationship of brain and tau levels.
Journal Article
The competence of family physicians in caring for dementia patients. A survey of general practitioners in Quebec
TL;DR: Quebec general practitioners have average ability to care for patients with dementia, and continuing education should focus on increasing physicians' knowledge of dementia, especially for those with the lowest scores.
