Journal ArticleDOI
CD38 is critical for social behaviour by regulating oxytocin secretion
Duo Jin,Hong-Xiang Liu,Hirokazu Hirai,Takashi Torashima,Taku Nagai,Olga Lopatina,Natalia A. Shnayder,Kiyofumi Yamada,Mami Noda,Toshihiro Seike,Kyota Fujita,Shin Takasawa,Shigeru Yokoyama,Keita Koizumi,Yoshitake Shiraishi,Shigenori Tanaka,Minako Hashii,Toru Yoshihara,Kazuhiro Higashida,Mohammad Saharul Islam,Nobuaki Yamada,Kenshi Hayashi,Naoya Noguchi,Ichiro Kato,Hiroshi Okamoto,Akihiro Matsushima,Alla B. Salmina,Toshio Munesue,Nobuaki Shimizu,Sumiko Mochida,Masahide Asano,Haruhiro Higashida +31 more
TL;DR: It is shown that adult CD38 knockout (CD38-/-) female and male mice show marked defects in maternal nurturing and social behaviour, respectively, with higher locomotor activity and may be an element in neurodevelopmental disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
AKAP150 signaling complex promotes suppression of the M-current by muscarinic agonists
Naoto Hoshi,Jia Sheng Zhang,Miho Omaki,Takahiro Takeuchi,Shigeru Yokoyama,Nicolas Wanaverbecq,Lorene K. Langeberg,Yukio Yoneda,John D. Scott,David Brown,Haruhiro Higashida +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown here that rat KCNQ2 can bind directly to the multivalent A-kinase-anchoring protein AKAP150, and data indicate thatAKAP150-bound PKC participates in receptor-induced inhibition of the M-current.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two genetic variants of CD38 in subjects with autism spectrum disorder and controls.
Toshio Munesue,Shigeru Yokoyama,Kazuhiko Nakamura,Ayyappan Anitha,Kazuo Yamada,Kenshi Hayashi,Tomoya Asaka,Hong-Xiang Liu,Duo Jin,Keita Koizumi,Mohammad Saharul Islam,Jian-Jun Huang,Wen Jie Ma,Uh-Hyun Kim,Sun Jun Kim,Keunwan Park,Dongsup Kim,Mitsuru Kikuchi,Yasuki Ono,Hideo Nakatani,Shiro Suda,Taishi Miyachi,Hirokazu Hirai,Alla B. Salmina,Yu A. Pichugina,Andrei A. Soumarokov,Nori Takei,Norio Mori,Masatsugu Tsujii,Toshiro Sugiyama,Kunimasa Yagi,Masakazu Yamagishi,Tsukasa Sasaki,Hidenori Yamasue,Nobumasa Kato,Ryota Hashimoto,Masako Taniike,Yutaka Hayashi,Jun-ichiro Hamada,Shioto Suzuki,Akishi Ooi,Mami Noda,Yuko Kamiyama,Mizuho A. Kido,Olga Lopatina,Minako Hashii,Sarwat Amina,Fabio Malavasi,Eric J. Huang,Jiasheng Zhang,Nobuaki Shimizu,Takeo Yoshikawa,Akihiro Matsushima,Yoshio Minabe,Haruhiro Higashida +54 more
TL;DR: The immunohistochemical expression of CD38 in the hypothalamus of post-mortem brains of non-ASD subjects is examined and it is found that CD38 was colocalized with OT in secretory neurons.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of the kv3.1b potassium channel isoform adjusts the fidelity of the firing pattern of auditory neurons.
Carolyn M. Macica,Christian A. A. von Hehn,Lu-Yang Wang,Chi-Shun Ho,Shigeru Yokoyama,Rolf H. Joho,Leonard K. Kaczmarek +6 more
TL;DR: Modulation of Kv3.1 by phosphorylation allows auditory neurons to tune their responses to different patterns of sensory stimulation, and suggests that modulation of K v3.2 current is sufficient to increase the accuracy of response at intermediate frequencies while impairing responses at high frequencies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Muscarinic Receptor-mediated Dual Regulation of ADP-ribosyl Cyclase in NG108-15 Neuronal Cell Membranes
Haruhiro Higashida,Shigeru Yokoyama,Minako Hashii,Megumi Taketo,Masaharu Higashida,Tatsunori Takayasu,Tohru Ohshima,Shin Takasawa,Hiroshi Okamoto,Mami Noda +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that mAChRs couple to ADp-ribosyl cyclase within cell membranes via trimeric G proteins and can thereby control cellular function by regulating cADP-ribose formation.
