TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a database of 45,813 first records of 16,926 established alien species and showed that the annual rate of first records worldwide has increased during the last 200 years, with 37% of all first records reported most recently (1970-2014).
Journal ArticleDOI
Global rise in emerging alien species results from increased accessibility of new source pools.

TL;DR: Using a global database of the first regional records of alien species covering the years 1500–2005, a surprisingly high proportion of species in recent records that have never been recorded as alien before are detected.
Journal ArticleDOI
GB Non-native Species Information Portal: documenting the arrival of non-native species in Britain
Helen E. Roy,Christopher D. Preston,Colin A. Harrower,Stephanie L. Rorke,David G. Noble,Jack Sewell,Kevin J. Walker,Kevin J. Walker,J. H. Marchant,B Seeley,John D. D. Bishop,Alison Jukes,Andy J. Musgrove,David Pearman,Olaf Booy +14 more
TL;DR: The project involved working with volunteer experts to populate a database of NNS (hereafter called “the species register”) with information on aspects of the species’ biology such as environment, habitat, functional type, invasion pathways, establishment status in Britain and impacts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Annual estimates of occupancy for bryophytes, lichens and invertebrates in the UK, 1970–2015

TL;DR: Annual estimates of occupancy and species trends are determined for 5,293 UK bryophytes, lichens, and invertebrates, providing national scale information on UK biodiversity change for 31 taxonomic groups for the time period 1970 to 2015.
Journal ArticleDOI
Horizon scanning for invasive alien species with the potential to threaten biodiversity and human health on a Mediterranean island

TL;DR: This horizon scan provides the first systematic exercise to identify invasive alien species of potential concern to biodiversity and ecosystems but also human health within the Mediterranean region and should provide other islands in the region and beyond with baseline data to improve IAS prioritisation and management.
