Journal ArticleDOI
Triggering of Nocturnal Arrhythmias by Sleep-Disordered Breathing Events
Ken Monahan,Amy Storfer-Isser,Reena Mehra,Eyal Shahar,Murray A. Mittleman,Jeffrey N. Rottman,Naresh M. Punjabi,Mark H. Sanders,Stuart F. Quan,Stuart F. Quan,Helaine E. Resnick,Susan Redline +11 more
TL;DR: Although the absolute arrhythmia rate is low, the relative risk of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and NSVT during sleep is markedly increased shortly after a respiratory disturbance, support a direct temporal link between SDB events and the development of these arrhythmias.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improvement of Mild Sleep-disordered Breathing with CPAP Compared with Conservative Therapy
TL;DR: CPAP therapy may be beneficial to a broader group of subjects than previously appreciated, and middle-aged snorers with relatively low levels of SDB may benefit more from nasal CPAP than from less specific therapy directed at improving breathing during sleep.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Sleep Parameters from Actigraphy and Polysomnography in Older Women: The SOF Study
Terri Blackwell,Susan Redline,Sonia Ancoli-Israel,Jennifer L. Schneider,Susan Surovec,Nathan Johnson,Jane A. Cauley,Katie L. Stone +7 more
TL;DR: Sleep parameters from actigraphy corresponded reasonably well to polysomnography in this population, with the PIM mode ofActigraphy correlating highest and those with poor sleep quality had the largest measurement error between the 2 procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association analysis identifies novel loci for chronotype in 100,420 individuals from the UK Biobank
Jacqueline M. Lane,Irma Vlasac,Irma Vlasac,Simon G. Anderson,Simon D. Kyle,William G Dixon,David A. Bechtold,Shubhroz Gill,Max A. Little,Annemarie I. Luik,Andrew S. I. Loudon,Richard Emsley,Frank A.J.L. Scheer,Debbie A Lawlor,Susan Redline,Susan Redline,David W. Ray,Martin K. Rutter,Martin K. Rutter,Richa Saxena +19 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study of self-reported chronotype within the UK Biobank cohort identifies 12 new genetic loci that implicate known components of the circadian clock machinery and point to previously unstudied genetic variants and candidate genes that might modulate core circadian rhythms or light-sensing pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subjective and objective sleep quality and aging in the sleep heart health study
Mark Unruh,Susan Redline,Ming Wen An,Daniel J. Buysse,F. Javier Nieto,Jeun Liang Yeh,Anne B. Newman +6 more
TL;DR: To examine the extent to which subjective and objective sleep quality are related to age independent of chronic health conditions, a large number of patients with a history of sleep-related illnesses are surveyed.
