Activated Protein C Induces Endothelial Cell Proliferation by Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Activation In Vitro and Angiogenesis In Vivo
Mitsuhiro Uchiba,Kenji Okajima,Yuichi Oike,Yasuhiro Ito,Kenji Fukudome,Hirotaka Isobe,Toshio Suda +6 more
TL;DR: APC activated the MAPK pathway, increased DNA synthesis, and induced proliferation in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells dependent on its serine protease activity, and these in vitro events induced by APC might at least partly explain the angiogenic activity in vivo.
Journal Article
Expression of angiopoietin-2 in human glioma cells and its role for angiogenesis.
Kazunari Koga,Tatemi Todaka,Motohiro Morioka,Jun Ichiro Hamada,Yutaka Kai,Shigetoshi Yano,Akira Okamura,Nobuyuki Takakura,Toshio Suda,Yukitaka Ushio +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that glioma cells themselves express Ang2 and that expression may be induced by hypoxic stimulation and may play a crucial role in the vessel maturation, angiogenesis, and vessel regression in malignant gliomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiation and function of osteoclasts
Takeshi Miyamoto,Toshio Suda +1 more
TL;DR: An in vitro osteoclasts culture system is established by isolating osteoclast precursor cells and culturing them in the presence of macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF) and soluble RANKL and this system has enabled the regulation mechanisms in osteOClast formation to be analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD24 is expressed specifically in the nucleus pulposus of intervertebral discs.
Nobuyuki Fujita,Takeshi Miyamoto,Jun-ichi Imai,Naobumi Hosogane,Toru Suzuki,Mitsuru Yagi,Kozo Morita,Ken Ninomiya,Kana Miyamoto,Hironari Takaishi,Morio Matsumoto,Hideo Morioka,Hiroo Yabe,Kazuhiro Chiba,Shinya Watanabe,Yoshiaki Toyama,Toshio Suda +16 more
TL;DR: CD24, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor protein, was identified as a cell surface marker for NP and was detected in the herniated NP and chordoma, a malignant primary tumor derived from notochordal cells, while it was absent in chondrosarcoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Osteoclasts are dispensable for hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and mobilization
Kana Miyamoto,Shigeyuki Yoshida,Miyuri Kawasumi,Kazuaki Hashimoto,Tokuhiro Kimura,Yuiko Sato,Tami Kobayashi,Yoshiteru Miyauchi,Hiroko Hoshi,Ryotaro Iwasaki,Hiroya Miyamoto,Wu Hao,Hideo Morioka,Kazuhiro Chiba,Takashi Kobayashi,Hisataka Yasuda,Josef M. Penninger,Yoshiaki Toyama,Toshio Suda,Takeshi Miyamoto +19 more
TL;DR: The mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells does not require osteoclasts, which may even have an inhibitory effect.
