Bridges,Michael W. Shaw,Daniel B. Jernigan,Timothy M. Uyeki,Derek J. Smith,Derek J. Smith,Derek J. Smith,Alexander Klimov,Nancy J. Cox +62 more
TL;DR: The lack of similarity between the 2009 A(H1N1) virus and its nearest relatives indicates that its gene segments have been circulating undetected for an extended period as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Triple-Reassortant Swine Influenza A (H1) in Humans in the United States, 2005–2009
Vivek Shinde,Carolyn B. Bridges,Timothy M. Uyeki,Bo Shu,Amanda Balish,Xiyan Xu,Stephen Lindstrom,Larisa V. Gubareva,Varough M. Deyde,Rebecca Garten,Meghan L. Harris,Susan I. Gerber,Susan Vagasky,Forrest Smith,Neal Pascoe,Karen Martin,Deborah Dufficy,Kathy Ritger,Craig Conover,Patricia Quinlisk,Alexander Klimov,Joseph S. Bresee,Lyn Finelli +22 more
TL;DR: From December 2005 until just before the current human epidemic of swine-origin influenza viruses, there was sporadic infection with triple-reassortant swine influenza A (H1) viruses in persons with exposure to pigs in the United States.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surveillance of Resistance to Adamantanes among Influenza A(H3N2) and A(H1N1) Viruses Isolated Worldwide
Varough M. Deyde,Xiyan Xu,Rick A. Bright,Michael W. Shaw,Catherine B. Smith,Ye Zhang,Yuelong Shu,Larisa V. Gubareva,Nancy J. Cox,Alexander Klimov +9 more
TL;DR: Phylogenetic analysis of the HA and M genes indicates that the acquisition of resistance in A(H1N1) viruses can be linked to a specific genetic group and was not a result of reassortment between A (H3N2) and A( H1N 1) viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surveillance for Neuraminidase Inhibitor Resistance among Human Influenza A and B Viruses Circulating Worldwide from 2004 to 2008
Tiffany G. Sheu,Varough M. Deyde,Margaret Okomo-Adhiambo,Rebecca Garten,Xiyan Xu,Rick A. Bright,Eboneé N. Butler,Teresa R. Wallis,Alexander Klimov,Larisa V. Gubareva +9 more
TL;DR: The recent increase in oseltamivir resistance among A(H1N1) viruses isolated from untreated patients raises public health concerns and necessitates close monitoring of resistance to NA inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus Genomics and Global Diversity
TL;DR: The complete genomes of 13 geographically and temporally diverse virus strains were determined and CCHF viruses were found to be highly variable, and an analysis of individual segment datasets suggests genetic recombination also occurs.
