15 Sep 2000TL;DR: In this article, an interface transmitter coupled among a number of network elements of at least one network is provided, wherein data frames of a first type are received from a processor and stored in a random access memory (RAM).
Abstract: An interface transmitter coupled among a number of network elements of at least one network is provided, wherein a number of data frames of a first type are received from at least one processor and stored in at least one random access memory (RAM). Data is read from the RAM to at least one data serializer in response to a number of signals received from the processor and over at least one backplane network. A number of data frames of a second type corresponding to the data frames of a first type are generated and serially transferred among the network elements using the backplane network.

21 Jan 2015TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a system to detect and characterize fake cell towers in a network operator's network by receiving live data comprising any of crowd-sourced data and tower data and performing live data analysis on the live data and reference data.
Abstract: Systems and methods to detect and characterize fake cell towers in a network operator's network include receiving live data comprising any of crowd-sourced data and tower data; performing live data analysis on the live data and reference data; and detecting the fake cell towers based on the live data analysis. Optionally, spectrum data captured at cell towers by a baseband processor coupled to backhaul equipment can be used as additional input.

19 May 2016TL;DR: In this paper, a method of protection switching in a packet network based on signal/service degrade is proposed, where the packet network connection connection has a signal/services degrade including a condition where the network connection is operational, but experiencing errors below a threshold.
Abstract: A method of protection switching in a packet network based on signal/service degrade includes monitoring a packet network connection; detecting the packet network connection has a signal/service degrade including a condition where the packet network connection is operational, but experiencing errors below a threshold; and responsive to detection of the signal/service degrade one or more of notifying nodes in the packet network and performing a protection switch based on the signal/service degrade. The signal/service degrade is detected through one or more of i) determining a Frame Error Rate imputed from one or more of Bit Error Rate, frame events, and frame losses; ii) frame delay measurements; and iii) a combination thereof.

19 Oct 2001TL;DR: In this paper, a module board guide is modified to accept the module faceplate inner profile including, for example, a recess that accepts a module holding clip and/or an insertion guide to guide the board edges into the slot.
Abstract: A module housing apparatus protects modules having sensitive electrical, optical, and/or electro-optical components from physical and electrostatic discharge (ESD). The module housing apparatus includes a box constructed or coated with a conductive material and having an open end. Module board guides are formed in opposing inside surfaces of the conductive box and include slots that accept and guide the board edges of the module. The conductive module faceplate mates with the conductive box to form a Faraday cage that protects the components of the module from ESD. The module board guide may be modified to accept the module faceplate inner profile including, for example, a recess that accepts a module holding clip and/or an insertion guide to guide the board edges into the slot. A retaining mechanism such as a strap may be used to hold the module in the housing.

27 Feb 2004TL;DR: In this paper, a system for performing Bit Interleaved Parity-8 (BIP-8) computation on large concatenated payloads, in a processing node of an optical communications networks, is presented.
Abstract: A system for performing Bit Interleaved Parity-8 (BIP-8) computation on large concatenated payloads, in a processing node of an optical communications networks. The BIP-8 computation system comprises storage means associated with each processing strip for allowing the comparison between calculated and transmitted frame error check values to be delayed.
