TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an experimental investigation conducted to assess the impact of personality factors on the formation of spatial presence in four different media (linear text, hypertext, film and virtual environment) and eight different experimental manipulations were applied.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present an experimental investigation conducted to assess the impact of personality factors on the formation of Spatial Presence. Four different media -linear text, hypertext, film and virtual environment- and eight different experimental manipulations were applied. Spatial Presence was measured using the MEC-SPQ questionnaire. Personality was measured using the NEO-FFI personality questionnaire. Other personality traits such absorption, domain-specific interest and spatial visual imagery were also measured. Our findings suggest that absorption, domain-specific interest and agreeableness are good predictors of Spatial Presence. Experimental manipulations, however, had a quite small effect on Spatial Presence.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted an online survey among the German public in a sample stratified by demographic characteristics (N = 3000) and measured the health-related use of the Internet and health apps as well as possible personal and motivational factors.
Abstract: Background and objectives Taking an active role in healthcare requires comprehensive health knowledge. One's own online search for health information can contribute to an appropriate information base. Therefore, it seems essential to determine the extent to which online services and health apps are currently used in Germany as well as to analyze which personal and motivational factors influence whether and how often the German public search for health information online or use health apps. Methods We conducted an online survey among the German public in a sample stratified by demographic characteristics (N = 3000). The questionnaire measured the health-related use of the Internet and health apps as well as possible personal and motivational factors. The relevance of these factors for explaining the Internet use for health-related purposes was determined by regression analyses. Results While health-related information searches using the Internet are widespread in Germany, health apps are used less frequently. In particular health information platforms are most frequently used to search for information on disease symptoms. Turning to the Internet for health-related purposes is mainly influenced by motivational factors. Having current health problems and possessing information-seeking skills are particularly influential factors for an individual's Internet use. Conclusions In order to unfold the potential associated with health-related online information-seeking behaviors, it is necessary that people are motivated and feel competent to gather online information themselves. In particular, the corresponding skills need to be promoted in order to reduce the risk of increasing informational, health, and social disparities.

TL;DR: In fact, the simulation of violence in some video games has become so authentic that the military has discovered them as new opportunities for training and recruiting (America’s Army, 2002; Full Spectrum Warrior, 2004) as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Many of the most popular video games contain violence (for example, see Smith, Lachlan, and Tamborini, 2003). Players of violent games take the role of soldiers, policemen, secret agents or professional killers (Hitman: Contracts, 2004), which implies war action or ‘small-scale violence’, such as shootings or bombings. Rapid progress in computing technology has rendered the audiovisual appearance and the interactive quality of today’s video-game violence extremely realistic, authentic and dynamic (Tamborini and Skalski, 2006). In fact, the simulation of violence in some video games has become so authentic that the military has discovered them as new opportunities for training and recruiting (America’s Army, 2002; Full Spectrum Warrior, 2004).

TL;DR: This paper describes the use of real-time MRI at 30 frames/s in studying motor function within the oropharyngeal cavity of a trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba player and makes recommendations for extending these methods to studying musician's dystonia.
