TL;DR: The potential antibacterial mechanisms ofAgNPs are analyzed, and the influences of AgNPs on osteogenic-related cells, including cellular adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation, were discussed.
Abstract: Infection, as a common postoperative complication of orthopedic surgery, is the main reason leading to implant failure. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are considered as a promising antibacterial agent and always used to modify orthopedic implants to prevent infection. To optimize the implants in a reasonable manner, it is critical for us to know the specific antibacterial mechanism, which is still unclear. In this review, we analyzed the potential antibacterial mechanisms of AgNPs, and the influences of AgNPs on osteogenic-related cells, including cellular adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation, were also discussed. In addition, methods to enhance biocompatibility of AgNPs as well as advanced implants modifications technologies were also summarized.

26 Jul 2007TL;DR: In this paper, the ITS (intelligent transport system) includes two big function modules: Information processing application system and Road condition information transferring system, which is in charge of the information exchange of the car inside, car to car and car to road.
Abstract: Ad hoc networks are a new wireless networking paradigm for mobile hosts. In this paper, we designed an intelligent transport system. The ITS (intelligent transport system) includes two big function modules: Information processing application system and Road condition information transferring system. The main task of the road condition information transferring module is in charge of the information exchange of the car inside, car to car and car to road. The module works in ad hoc network, we call the network VANET (vehicular ad-hoc network) . Vehicular networks are likely to become the most relevant form of mobile ad hoc networks. For the sake of insuring the system can run normally, the information can be transferring correctly and fleetly, the security of VANET (vehicular ad-hoc network) of the road condition information transferring system is crucial. So integrate the characteristics of ad hoc network itself, in the ITS of this paper, we concern the security issues of VANETs from some aspects and provide the appropriate solving measures. To make sure the ITS can be used under the security pattern.

TL;DR: In this paper, a twisting donor-acceptor (D-A) triphenylamine-imidazol molecule, TPA-PPI, is reported: its synthesis, photophysics, and EL performance.
Abstract: In an organic electroluminescent (EL) device, the recombination of injected holes and electrons produces what appears to be an ion-pair or charge-transfer (CT) exciton, and this CT exciton decays to produce one photon directly, or relaxes to a low-lying local exciton (LE). Thus the full utilization of both the energy of the CT exciton and the LE should be a pathway for obtaining high-efficiency EL. Here, a twisting donor-acceptor (D-A) triphenylamine-imidazol molecule, TPA-PPI, is reported: its synthesis, photophysics, and EL performance. Prepared by a manageable, one-pot cyclizing reaction, TPA-PPI exhibits deep-blue emission with high quantum yields (90%) both in solution and in the solid state. Fluorescent solvatochromic experiments for TPA-PPI solutions show a red-shift of 57 nm (3032 cm-1) from low-polarity hexane (406 nm) to high-polarity acetonitrile (463 nm), accompanied by the gradual disappearance of the vibrational band in the spectra with increased solvent polarity. The photophysical investigation and DFT analysis suggest an intercrossed CT and LE excited state of the TPA-PPI, originating from its twisting D-A configuration. This is a rare instance that a CT-state material shows highly efficient deep-blue emission. EL characterization demonstrates that, as a deep-blue emitter with CIE coordinates of (0.15, 0.11), the performance of a TPA-PPI-based device is rather excellent, displaying a maximum current efficiency of >5.0 cd A-1, and a maximum external quantum efficiency of >5.0%, corresponding to a maximum internal quantum efficiency of >25%. The effective utilization of the excitation energy arising from materials with intercrossed-excited-state (LE and CT) characters is thought to be beneficial for the improved efficiency of EL devices.

TL;DR: In this article, a two-step pyrolysis of melamine (C3H6N6) at 800°C for 2 h under vacuum conditions is described.
Abstract: Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has been synthesized via a two-step pyrolysis of melamine (C3H6N6) at 800°C for 2 h under vacuum conditions. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns strongly indicate that the synthesized sample is g-C3N4. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) morphologies indicate that the product is mainly composed of graphitic carbon nitride. The stoichiometric ratio of C:N is determined to be 0.72 by elemental analysis (EA). Chemical bonding of the sample has been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) verifies the bonding state between carbon and nitrogen atoms. Optical properties of the g-C3N4 were investigated by PL (photoluminescence) measurements and UV–Vis (ultraviolet–visible) absorption spectra. We suppose its luminescent properties may have potential application as component of optical nanoscale devices. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were also performed.

TL;DR: In this article, a CdS/WO3 nano-junction achieving a Z-scheme for clean hydrogen fuel evolution by mimicking the natural photosynthesis was constructed.
Abstract: Natural photosynthesis is usually recognized as an efficient mechanism to achieve solar energy conversion. We construct a CdS/WO3 nanojunction achieving a Z-scheme for clean hydrogen fuel evolution by mimicking the natural photosynthesis. Although WO3 alone cannot be used for H2 evolution from water splitting, it can significantly increase the H2 evolution activity of CdS through a Z-scheme mechanism with lactate as electron donor. The CdS/WO3 photocatalyst has a high H2 evolution rate of 369 μmol g–1 h–1 at a CdS concentration of 20 wt %, which is 5 times as high as that of CdS with lactic acid as electron donor. For further improving the hydrogen production rate, we introduce the noble metal Pt to ameliorate the charge transport between CdS and WO3. Good H2 evolution rates up to 2900 μmol g–1 h–1 were obtained with WPC3, which is about 7.9 times the rate of WC20 with visible radiation. The interesting thing is that the photocatalytic mechanism of CdS/WO3 is different from the previously reported mechani...
