TL;DR: In this article, cold upsetting experiments were carried out on sintered aluminium preforms in order to evaluate their work-hardening characteristics, and the instantaneous strain hardening exponent Ni and strength coefficient ki were calculated and found to be reached the peak value when the deformation or packing density is at low value.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of thermal drilling input parameters on bushing length is studied since it is involved in fastening the galvanized steel by means of fasteners as required in numerous engineering problems.
Abstract: Thermal drilling is a new hole producing method in sheet material applications that uses the frictional heat generated at the intersection of workpiece and drilling tool with an intention of softening and subsequently, penetrating the hole. According to L27-Taguchi orthogonal array approach, the thermal drilling experiments were executed on galvanized steel which is engaged in boat yards construction and automobile body manufacture applications. All the way through experimentation of thermal drilling with the noteworthy process conditions like rotational speed (S), workpiece thickness (W t) as well as tool angle ( $$\alpha$$ ) were varied in different levels. Using the experimental outcomes, an appropriate artificial neural network technique (ANN) is established to develop bushing length model. Bushing length (B L) is considered as the most important output parameter in thermal drilling, since it is directly linked by tapping operation. Thus, the effects of thermal drilling input parameters on bushing length is studied since it is involved in fastening the galvanized steel by means of fasteners as required in numerous engineering problems. Furthermore, process optimization is established by means of simulated annealing (SA) algorithm approach under constraint boundaries with a view to maximization of bushing length. Besides, compare the optimal value of bushing length as predicted by SA algorithm with experimental bushing length value and this validates the development of thermal drilling on galvanized steel. An outstanding conformity has been detected between the predicted optimum and experimental value of bushing length.

TL;DR: From the results, it was observed that the PO biofuel may be a promising alternative in the near prospect with the thermal barrier coating technique to enhance the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engine.
Abstract: The present study presented an inclusive analysis of engine exhaust emission characteristics of direct injection diesel engine fuelled with diesel and biofuel. Biofuel used in this investigation was obtained by steam distillation from pine oil. A single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine was used for this purpose. In this work, performance characteristics like brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) were analysed. The engine pollutants, namely nitrogen oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC), and smoke, were examined. In addition, combustion characteristics like in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate were presented. Two engine modification techniques, namely thermal barrier coating and the addition of antioxidant to biofuel, were attempted. The advantage of thermal barrier coating is to reduce heat loss from the engine and convert the accumulated heat into useful piston work. In this work, partially stabilised zirconia was used as the coating material. The usage of antioxidant-treated biofuel in a diesel engine was said to be the prominent approach for NOx emission reduction. Three different antioxidants, namely butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), were exclusively dissolved at a concentration of 1% by volume with PO fuel. The obtained performance and emission characteristics of the uncoated engine were compared with the thermally coated engine. From the results, it was observed that the PO biofuel may be a promising alternative in the near prospect with the thermal barrier coating technique to enhance the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engine. The PO+TBHQ blend was considered as more beneficial than PO+BHT and PO+BHA on account of its performance, combustion and emission characteristics. The effectiveness of the antioxidant was shown in the order of TBHQ>BHA>BHT.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the dispersion of nano garnet particles in commercially available SN500 grade gear lubricant oil on its viscous behavior is analyzed. And the results show that the prepared nano fluids are highly stable up to 500°C and the viscous behaviour is found to be enhanced according the nano particle concentrations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dynamic programming recursive approach for the emission constrained economic dispatch (ECED) problem has been solved analytically without the familiar Lambda (λ) iteration method, which has boundless applications for economic generation studies with different constraints.
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present a dynamic programming recursive approach for the emission constrained economic dispatch (ECED). A multiobjective, multistage decision making problem has been solved analytically without the familiar Lambda (λ) iteration method. The optimization algorithm has been developed with a sequential dynamic programming model. The salient feature of this technique is that all the former conventional procedures have been avoided completely. This method has boundless applications for economic generation studies with different constraints. An accurate solution is made available on par with other conventional results. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated with the help of two standard test systems.
