TL;DR: In this article, an artificial neural network (ANN) model was used to estimate monthly average global solar radiation on a horizontal surface for selected 5 locations in Mediterranean region for period of 18 years (1993-2010).
Abstract: In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) model was used to estimate monthly average global solar radiation on a horizontal surface for selected 5 locations in Mediterranean region for period of 18 years (1993-2010). Meteorological and geographical data were taken from Turkish State Meteorological Service. The ANN architecture designed is a feed-forward back-propagation model with one-hidden layer containing 21 neurons with hyperbolic tangent sigmoid as the transfer function and one output layer utilized a linear transfer function (purelin). The training algorithm used in ANN model was the Levenberg Marquand back propagation algorith (trainlm). Results obtained from ANN model were compared with measured meteorological values by using statistical methods. A correlation coefficient of 97.97 (~98%) was obtained with root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.852 MJ/m2 , mean square error (MSE) of 0.725 MJ/m2 , mean absolute bias error (MABE) 10.659MJ/m2 , and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 4.8%. Results show good agreement between the estimated and measured values of global solar radiation. We suggest that the developed ANN model can be used to predict solar radiation another location and conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dual etalon Fabry-Perot spectrometer called DEFPOS has been used for observing physical properties of HII regions and planetary nebulae.
Abstract: A dual etalon Fabry-Perot spectrometer called DEFPOS has been used for observing physical properties of HII regions and planetary nebulae since May 2007 (Aksaker et al. 2009, 2011; Sahan et al. 2009; Sahan 2011). In this study, the Hα measurements of the HII region NGC 1499 (California Nebula) have been investigated with a 4′ circular field of view over a 200 km s–1 (4.4 A) spectral window. These measurements provide information about the densities, line widths, and radial velocities of the surrounding NGC 1499 nebula. The intensities, the radial velocities and the line widths of the Hα emission line vary from 397.75 R to 1044.14 R, –4.88 km s–1 to –1.02 km s–1, and 36.72 km s–1 to 42.81 km s–1, respectively (© 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of conflict management on counterproductive work behavior and also make demographic comparisons to these variables were determined. And the results showed that conflict management styles, integrating, dominating, and compromising, have significant effect on negative work behavior dimensions.
Abstract: According to contemporary theory in Management Science, conflicts are inevitable and necessary for organizations, indeed. Managing conflicts shows clearly differences between good and perfect managers and entrepreneurs. In this respect, conflict management styles are emerging as a meaningful tool for dealing with the counterproductive work behaviors which are anti-innovative behaviors. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effects of conflict management on counterproductive work behavior and also make demographic comparisons to these variables. The sample is composed of 200 white-collar employees. Data were collected through survey technique with convenience sampling method and analyzed via statistical package programs. Results show that conflict management styles, integrating, dominating, and compromising, have significant effect on counterproductive work behavior dimensions. Integrating reduces organizational deviance, dominating increases interpersonal deviance, and compromising reduces both interpersonal and organizational deviance. Besides, perceptions about conflict management and counterproductive work behavior vary depending on demographic characteristics. Integrating is perceived mostly by female participants in comparison with males. Dominating is perceived mostly by private sector employees in comparison with public ones. Younger employees perceive conflict management and its two dimensions, obliging and compromising, more than their elders. Males are in tendency to behave counterproductive in comparison with females. Counterproductive work behavior and its one-dimensional, organizational deviance are performed less by younger employees and more by employees educated at post-graduate degree.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the sociological dimensions of selfies shared publicly by the most widely followed users in Instagram which is among the social media network based on visualization while highlighting the disappeared properties of oral and written culture.
Abstract: In this study, digital culture emerging with new communication technologies after oral culture and the written culture will be examined in a critical perspective with the example of selfie. As expressed previously, many studies conducted with the same content has focused on the individual psychological effects of selfies. But study will be focusing on the social effects of selfies which are considered as a new visual culture of the new digital society in this study. The new cultural environment in Turkey created by the selfies in which the impacts of globalization can be observed is being discussed in this study and it will try to evaluate the sociological dimensions of selfies shared publicly by the most widely followed users in Instagram which is among the social media network based on visualization while highlighting the disappeared properties of oral and written culture

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of putting the batter into the oven without resting (directly) and with short-time resting (10 min) prior to baking were investigated on quality characteristics of sponge cake (volume, grain structure, softness, moisture content etc) For this purpose, four baking powders which have different compositions were used at three different levels (025, 125, and 225%) in cake batter.
Abstract: In this study, effects of putting the batter into the oven without resting (directly) and (with) short-time resting (10 min) prior to baking were investigated on quality characteristics of sponge cake (volume, grain structure, softness, moisture content etc) For this purpose, four baking powders which have different compositions were used at three different levels (025%, 125%, and 225%) in cake batter As a result of this study, it was determined that, short-time resting of sponge cake batter prior to baking, effected product properties of 12 different sponge cake formulations in very limited way, generally did not cause any significant changes (decreases) The cause of this situation is thought that, egg and surfactant which were took part in sponge cake formulation as main ingredients gained stabile and strong structure to batter
