Abstract: This study concerns with the design optimization of steel skeletal structures thereby utilizing both a real-life specification provisions and ready steel profiles named hot-rolled I sections. For this purpose, the enhanced genetic algorithm methodology named EGAwMP is utilized as an optimization tool. The evolutionary search mechanism of EGAwMP is constituted on the basis of generational genetic algorithm (GGA). The exploration capacity of EGAwMP is improved in a way of dividing an entire population into sub-populations and using of a radial basis neural network for dynamically adjustment of EGAwMP’s genetic operator parameters. In order to improve the exploitation capability of EGAwMP, the proposed neural network implementation is also utilized for prediction of more accurate design variables associating with a new design strategy, design codes of which are based on the provisions of LRFD_AISC V3 specification. EGAwMP is applied to determine the real-life ready steel profiles for the optimal design of skeletal structures with 105, 200, 444, and 942 members. EGAwMP accomplishes to increase the quality degrees of optimum designations Furthermore, the importance of using the real-life steel profiles and design codes is also demonstrated. Consequently, EGAwMP is suggested as a design optimization tool for the real-life steel skeletal structures.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a suspicious-infected-death with non-pharmacological policies (SpID-N) model to analyze the properties of the COVID-19 casualties and also estimate the future behavior of the outbreak.
Abstract: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread the world resulting in detrimental effects on human health, lives, societies, and economies. The state authorities mostly take non-pharmacological actions against the outbreak since there are no confirmed vaccines or treatments yet. In this paper, we developed Suspicious-Infected-Death with Non-Pharmacological policies (SpID-N) model to analyze the properties of the COVID-19 casualties and also estimate the future behavior of the outbreak. We can state the key contributions of the paper with three folds. Firstly, we propose the SpID-N model covering the higher-order internal dynamics which cause the peaks in the casualties. Secondly, we parametrize the non-pharmacological policies such as the curfews on people with chronic disease, people age over 65, people age under 20, restrictions on the weekends and holidays, and closure of the schools and universities. Thirdly, we explicitly incorporate the internal and coupled dynamics of the model with these multi-dimensional non-pharmacological policies. The corresponding higher-order and strongly coupled model has utterly unknown parameters and we construct a batch type Least Square (LS) based optimization algorithm to learn these unknown parameters from the available data. The parametric model and the predicted future casualties are analyzed extensively.

TL;DR: Ruthenium complexes [RuCl2L2] were prepared by treating RuCl2(p-cymene)2 with structurally similar N-(2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylidene)-3-methylpyridin-2-amine, 4-(2.3)-methylphenol refluxed in toluene as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Ruthenium complexes [RuCl2L2] were prepared by treating [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 with structurally similar N-(2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylidene)-3-methylpyridin-2-amine, 4-(2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylideneamino)-3-methylphenol and 4-(2-(2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylideneamino)ethyl)phenol refluxed in toluene. These complexes were used as catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of acetophenones in 2-propanol and for the direct hydrogenation of styrenes under hydrogen pressure. The results of the catalytic studies provide evidence that these complexes function as excellent catalysts for hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

31 Mar 2016TL;DR: The authors compared the differences between EFL university instructors' perceptions and state and private school EFL teachers' perceptions, towards the integration of internet-assisted language teaching (IALT) into EFL instruction.
Abstract: Although internet-assisted language teaching (IALT) has been recognised by the rapid progress of internet, there is a lack of published studies concerning the perceptions and perspectives of English Foreign Language (EFL) teachers on the integration of the internet into language learning and teaching. This study compares the differences between EFL university instructors’ perceptions and state and private school EFL teachers’ perceptions, towards the integration of internet-assisted language teaching (IALT) into EFL instruction. 82 participants took part in the survey and responded to the questions about their perceptions towards integrating internet-assisted language learning into EFL instruction, what types of internet resources they use to enhance language learning, and what kind of barriers prevent the use of the internet in EFL classes. A mixed-method approach, quantitative and qualitative, was administered in this study. The quantitative part of the research is a questionnaire with two sections, and the qualitative part is an open-ended questionnaire. Both quantitative and qualitative results demonstrate that although both instructors and teachers showed positive attitude towards IALT, the internet activities they used in the classroom were limited, and there were some barriers against internet use in the language classroom, such as limited time, limited computer facilities and certain technical problems.
