Modeling and analysis of a nonlinear adaptive filter control for interline unified power quality conditioner

Abstract: In this paper, one of the known interline custom power devices named Interline Unified Power Quality Conditioner (IUPQC) is improved for various power quality disturbances and modeled in PSCAD/EMTDC. The developed topology can be used for simultaneous compensation of voltage and current imperfections in a multibus/multifeeder system. The proposed IUPQC is designed for medium voltage level (11 kV) and effective Enhanced Phase Locked Loop (EPLL) based control technique is used to detect and extract the PQ disturbances. The performance of Series Compensator of IUPQC is evaluated through extensive simulations for mitigating unbalanced voltage sags with phase jumps and interruption. The performance of Shunt Compensator of IUPQC is also tested for harmonic and reactive power compensation that are not investigated before in literature. It is verified that IUPQC which is connected to two feeders, can compensate current and voltage distortions succesfully in these feeders according to the results obtained using PSCAD/EMTDC.

COVID-19 Induced Economic Uncertainty: A Comparison between the United Kingdom and the United States

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on economic policy uncertainty in the US and the UK. The impact of the increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the country and the increase in the number of cases and deaths outside the country may vary. To examine this, the study employs the bootstrap ARDL cointegration approach from March 8, 2020 to May 24, 2020. According to the bootstrap ARDL results, a long-run equilibrium relationship is confirmed for five out of the ten models. The long-term coefficients obtained from the ARDL models suggest that an increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths outside of the UK and the US has a significant effect on economic policy uncertainty. The US is more affected by the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. The UK, on the other hand, is more negatively affected by the increase in the number of COVID-19 deaths outside the country than the increase in the number of cases. Moreover, another significant finding from the study demonstrates that COVID-19 is a factor of great uncertainty for both countries in the short-term. Copyright © 2020 Ugur Korkut Pata. A Research on Relationship of Institutionalization and Institutional Entrepreneurship

Abstract: Institutionalization is a dynamic process which is developed as a result of enterprise sensitivity to the environmental transformation and consists of its efforts to conformity to this transformation. Institutional entrepreneurship, however, is the process of building a different constitution inside the enterprise to induce entrepreneurial spirit and to lead the association into transformation and modernism. These two notions can be seen as the activities that will achieve the permanency and the efficiency of family businesses which have a big interest in world economics. In this study, the components of the institutionalization are; social responsibility and professionalization, institutional entrepreneurship components are aimed to be measured on the basis of the risk and proactivity and the modernism in the family businesses which are sampling units. In this study, the deduced survey hypothesis are tested using the statistical analysis data, and the contribution of the study to the association is discussed in the light of derived findings and evaluations, also a set of suggestions which can enlighten the way for next studies are developed and how the business world will profit from this study is emphasized.
