01 Jul 2015TL;DR: In this article, some general design characteristics and performance limitations are discussed for different types of radiation measurement instruments, and some of these general considerations have been discussed in detail in the context of nuclear medicine studies.
Abstract: Nuclear Medicine studies are performed with a variety of types of radiation measurement instruments, depending on the kind of radiation source that is being measured and the type of information sought. For example, some instruments are designed for in vitro measurements on blood samples, urine specimens, and so forth. Others are designed for in vivo measurements of radioactivity in patients. All these instruments have special design characteristics to optimize them for their specific tasks, as described in this study; however, some considerations of design characteristics and performance limitations are common to all of them. An important consideration for any radiation measurement instrument is its detection efficiency. Maximum detection efficiency is desirable because one thus obtains maximum information with a minimum amount of radioactivity. Also important are instrument’s counting rate limitations. There are finite counting rate limits for all counting and imaging instruments used in nuclear medicine, above which accurate results are obtained because of data losses and other data distortions. Non penetrating radiations, such as s particles, have special detection and measurement problems. In this study, some of these general considerations have been discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the long-term (1960-2015) thermometer temperatures in the study area were obtained from the Turkish State Meteorological Service and evaluated with Student-t test.
Abstract: Information on the energy needs of agricultural production activities carried out in any region can be obtained in advance. Many methods are used for this purpose. One of them is a degree-hour method. Kumluca district of Antalya province where pepper cultivation is done intensively was chosen as a study area. The growers prefer autumn production of pepper plants inside the greenhouses in this region. Production starts in early October and last until June. The long-term (1960 – 2015) thermometer temperatures in the study area were obtained from the Turkish State Meteorological Service. In this study, by using only meteorological data, during each growing season (planting, flowering, pollination, fruit ripening and harvesting) were obtained degree-hour values for the pepper plant and evaluated with Student-t test. Regression coefficients were obtained by correlating heating and cooling degree-hour values with different temperature values which are recommended during the vegetative growing season for the pepper plant. Regression analysis was performed between obtaining heating and cooling degree-hour values (dependent variable) and annual mean heating and cooling degree hour values (independent variable) which are suggested basic temperature values. In conclusion, the regression coefficients were determined as 0.99 for out of greenhouse heating degree-hour and as 0.90-0.99 for cooling degree-hour, respectively. Heating and cooling-hour values were found between 0.96-0.88 and 0.990.87, respectively. It was determined that there are very high correlations

TL;DR: In this paper, the excitation functions of (n, 2n) reactions for five isotopes of selenium (74,76,78,80,82Se) are calculated using ALICE/ASH, EMPIRE-3.2, PCROSS, and TALYS 1.2.
Abstract: In the present work, the excitation functions of (n,2n) reactions for five isotopes of selenium (74,76,78,80,82Se) are calculated using ALICE/ASH, EMPIRE-3.2.2, PCROSS, and TALYS 1.6 computer codes based on statistical model up to 20 MeV. The theoretical calculations provide information of the (n,2n) excitation functions with the increasing target neutron number of selenium element. The calculated cross-sections were compared with experimental data from EXFOR and also with the crosssections estimated with semi empirical formula developed by Tet et al. (2008) [18]. Results show a reasonably good agreement between the calculations and the experimental data from literature.

TL;DR: In this article, calculations of neutron-induced alpha particle emission double-differential cross section of fluorine (19 F) at 14.2 MeV have been calculated by using ALICE and EMPIRE model programs for six different emission angles ranging from 30° to 150°.
Abstract: In this preset study, calculations of neutron-induced alpha particle emission double-differential cross section of fluorine (19 F) at 14.2 MeV have been calculated by using ALICE and EMPIRE model programs for six different emission angles ranging from 30° to 150°. Calculated results from the Hybrid Monte Carlo pre-equilibrium emission and the full featured Hauser-Feshbach model have been compared with the experimental (EXFOR). The calculated double-differential cross section results using three codes are in good agreement with experimental data.
